In the first Hannibal Lecter movie (Manhunter, 1986) Francis Dollarhyde weighs 217 pounds… NO WAY A HORROR MOVIE REFERENCING THE SHINING? WHATTTT? THAT IS ABSOLUTELY UNHEARD OF!
Huh... I never thought of linking Jack's descent into madness to (among other things) the delirium tremens...
Also WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE ACTRESS OF THE 237 GHOST is ALSO among the guests of the ghostly party? (She was apparently chosen precisely to fill the role for the 237 ghost after she played in the background of the ballroom scene)
This would make this scene accidentally accurate to that one book scene where Jack is sitting among guests at the bar and recognizes various figures of the hotel's grim history - including the 217 lady who sits right next to him.
Two things can be true at once:
1. The Shining is not a Stephen King movie.
2. Kubrick's film offers a different experience from King's book but both versions are enjoyable.
