[Love these stone arch bridges around Washington, DC. Always reminds me of Europe's lovely bridges.] "Once upon a time there was a magic city and it had a magic bridge. Many people crossed the span built by the ancient, the wise, engineers, and wizards. As time passed, the ancients, the wise, and the engineers left. (The wizards stayed, but lost their magic preferring to spend their time playing basketball.) The city's leaders, without the counsel of the wise, spent their time arguing about not spending money. Finally, they decided to give the money to the rich: "They're smart, they'll know what to do with it!" Interesting side note, the leaders just happened to be rich. Rather than using the money to educate new engineers and new wise people, and then to employ them to fix things like ancient bridges, they kept the $, though they played a lot of golf. They didn't notice the bridge beginning to crumble. One day the bridge fell. The leaders were stuck on the island, and were never heard from again. Philosophical question, happy ending? 🤔#bridges #stonearchbridge #potomacriver #washingtondc #rooseveltbridge #rooseveltisland #poorleadership #crumbling #infrastructure #dontgetwet #badgovernment #wastingtime #wastingmoney
