Pairing: Cole Gallian x Reader

Word Count: 857

Summary: It’s your birthday, but Cole’s getting a present too.

“Everyone shut up!” Cole shouts out, standing at the back of the room. The chatter simmers and everyone turns to look at him. He looks over at you and motions for you to go stand next to him. As you walk over to him, he goes on speaking to the crowd. “We all have birthdays!” He slurs a little and you can tell that he’s on the cusp of being drunk. He sways a little and continues, saying, “But not today! Today is (y/n)’s birthday!” He reaches out to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you into his side. “On your day of birth,” He glances down at you and then raises his glass in the air, “To (y/n)!”

“To (y/n)!” The others in the room clink their glasses against each other’s and cheer. You look up at Cole and grin. He touches his glass to yours and then lifts it to his lips, taking a sip. You do the same.

“That was quite the speech, Cole!” You reply, loud enough that you still have everyone’s attention. A few people join you in laughing and Cole shrugs at you, a smile on his face. “I know it’s my birthday, but I have something for you.” You reach your hand out to the table behind you and grab an envelope.

“No! No! No!” He sticks his hand out to block you from handing it to him.“It’s your birthday! I don’t want anything from you!” You try to push his hand out of the way.

“Oh yeah?” You put a hand on your hip and raise an eyebrow at him. “You don’t want anything from me? At all?” You smirk and he grins back at you, shrugging again.

“That’s different.” He blocks you from giving him the envelope again. “I’m still going to make that all about you.” He wiggles his eyebrows at you and winks. There are a few hoots and hollers from the other people in the room and your face begins to heat up.

“Cole this will be the only thing.” You shove his hand away again, your voice taking on a more serious tone. “This is a gift you’ll want. Trust me.”

“Fine.” He stops fighting against you and sighs in defeat. “Hand it over.” He throws his hand out dramatically, still smiling at you. You hand him the envelope and he sets his drink down. As he opens it and pulls out the card within it, you stop him.

“You have to read it out loud!” His eyebrows knit together in confusion and he glances between you and the card in his hand. “If you don’t promise me that you’ll read it out loud, you can’t see it.” When he hesitates to answer you, you grab at it. He yanks it out of your reach.

“Okay! Okay! I’ll read it out loud!” He begins opening it again and then pauses. “This better not be dirty, because I’ll read the whole damn thing.” Laughter erupts from the room. “And I’ll reenact it in a dramatic fashion.” His voice is almost sing-songy as his speaks.

“Just read it!” You smack his arm lightly and he chuckles and then opens the card.

“Ahem!” He clears his throat. “This is just an elaborate way to tell you what you’ll be getting for your birthday this year,” he reads aloud from the card and then glances up at you, confusion washing over him. “I don’t get it.” He flips the card over in his hand and then opens the envelope again, pulling out a picture. He stares at it for a second, blinks a few times, and then looks at you with wide eyes. “Are you serious?”

“It’s Morgan the third!” You nod in response to him, a huge grin spreading across your face.

“This is my baby!” Cole yells, holding the ultrasound picture up for everyone to see. “I made this little blob!” He jumps up and down and then runs around the room, showing multiple people. They all cheer and he runs around a little more and then he stops suddenly, in the middle of the room. “It’s in there right now!” He yells, more so to himself, and you nod, putting your hands on your stomach.

He speeds over to you and scoops you into his arms, spinning you around and smashing his mouth against yours. When he sets you back on your feet, he gets onto his knees and kisses your stomach. He stands back up and pulls you into a hug, kissing your head over and over.

“Let’s go home and put another one in there!” He whispers excitedly to you, pulling away a bit to look you in the eyes.

“You realize that’s not how it works, right?” You giggle at him, shaking your head.

“That doesn’t mean we can’t try.”

Warnings: Could rot your teeth from fluff?

You were so close to finishing your final project for your last English class of the semester, you could almost taste it. You had five pages left and maybe two hours, but you just couldn't focus on the essay anymore. There was only so much research you could take on your favorite topic before you got sick of hearing about it, and motivation was at an all time low. Putting your chin on your hands, you stared at the sign in the coffee shop, debating getting another drink.

Just as you settled on a mocha latte, someone walked past your table, setting a cup down that had a sticky note attached to the side. You turned to look at who it was, but all you could see was a man with long hair and broad shoulders before he walked out the door and left.

Turning back to the coffee, you pulled the sticky note off the side and held it up, grinning as you read the message on it.

'you look adorable while studying. don't work too hard though, take a break and enjoy a hot chocolate :)'

Sitting back in your seat, you picked up the cup and took a small sip, suddenly feeling much better about your essay, and your day in general.

The next time you found yourself in that coffee shop, you were in a bit of a hurry because you were running to an exam, but it was incredibly early and there was no way you were going to be able to function if you didn't have any coffee.

Initially you had your heart set on the mocha you never got the week before, but before you reached the counter you noticed a man with shoulder length hair sitting in the corner, his nose in a book. You did a double take when you got to the counter, and it was pretty easy to tell it was the same man from last week.

When it was your turn to order, you asked the barista, "do you happen to remember what that guy ordered?"

"Yeah!" The girl answered, smiling gently. "He got a vanilla soy latte about half an hour ago."

"Awesome. Could I get one of those, and a mocha as well please?"

The girl happily took your order, and after you paid her you stepped off to the side and dug a clean piece of paper out of your bag. After scribbling 'you have great taste in books, I loved that series" in the corner of the sheet, you ripped it off and waited for your coffees.

After you picked them up, you carefully walked past the man's table, sliding the cup towards the middle of the table and dropping the note next to it before hurrying off to your exam so you didn't make yourself late.

After your final exam of the semester, you decided it was time to have a coffee and relax; you were so over feeling overwhelmed. Making your way to the coffee shop, you tried to slow down your walking when you noticed you'd arrive at the door at the same time as someone else, but you still managed to reach the shop at the same time.

"Oh, after you!" The other person opened the door for you, and when you glanced over his face, you noticed it was the coffee guy from the last week and a half.

"Thanks."

You weren't really sure how to bring up the notes you'd given each other, but you didn't have to as he followed you in and walked beside you up to the counter. "So, was all the studying a success in the end?"

"I'm not completely sure, but I felt like I did okay in the end," you answered. He glanced over at you, looking genuinely interested in what you were saying, causing you to continue talking though your brain told you to stop. "I greatly appreciate the coffee from last week; I was in the middle of a final essay and just lost my way until you left me that kind note."

"It was no problem, you seemed super into your work. Thanks for returning the favor. I'm glad you have good taste in books." He teased back, nudging your shoulder slightly with his own. "Any other work for the week?"

"No sir! Freedom from exams started ten minutes ago."

"Then maybe you could stay for a while and we could talk about that book I just finished..."

You looked over at him, and he was looking back in earnest, small smile crossing his lips.

"I'd love to."
