Dangers of SUID Shell Scripts
Have started working through the challenges on root me. This is the first one I’m getting into and while I don’t plan on revealing any success, I do plan on reflecting on my failures.
Namely, that I’ve spent too much time investigating when I should’ve been more action oriented towards my attacks this evening, especially for a beginner’s level challenge. I’d like to chalk this up to the fact that I’m learning and, as usual, I’m being too hard on myself. However, I can call this first evening recon of the system, but even that feels a stretch.
Resources for the challenge are interesting; wishing I’d noticed them before I spent 90 minutes or so in the SSH shell.
