His new normal sucked if he was being honest. Mike tired easily. He was dizzy all the time. He got winded with even the smallest of walks down the hallway. He had trouble seeing out of one eye. He felt his temper rile at the little of things. He felt addled, or at least forgetful; that was getting better.
Mike wasn’t the same man and he doubted he’d be the same doctor. But, he was going to try. Giving up wasn’t in his blood. Even if he wanted to give up on this PT right thing. His hands didn’t quite want to work right. Getting the pegs into the right hole was a whole lot harder than he thought.
He was being ignored, for the most part. His therapist was helping another patient. The other patients were focused on their work. It was just him and the pegs. What a life. But there were eyes on him; he could feel them.
“Dr. Rorish, what brings you down here? Was I supposed to be back to work today?” he asked. His voice was not his own - not yet. It was weak and rasp from all the weeks in the coma. “And have I told you the story of how I died?❞

This was a nightmarish day. It was long. It was tiresome. He tended to so many patients and most of their outcomes seemed bleak; he’d even lost one (but that man had been inches from death when brought in). Hours not spent with patients was on the phone. Lots of strings were pulled so as to get Angus into the best rehab facility possible and as fast as possible. He’d just gotten home from dropping Angus at the in-patient center and it left him feeling sick.
He’d let his brother down. Mike told him to do something Angus was incapable of doing. Now he had to leave Angust at a rehab center four hours away. It felt like he abandoned Angus. He had half a mind to go back and book a hotel just to be close. But that would have to wait until the morning.
He needed food and sleep. He was starving and hunger. However, that would also need to wait. There was a message on the answering machine. “Oh God,” Mike whispered after listening to it. Picking up his car keys, he hopped back into the car and drove to the hospital.
Finding Leanne’s office, he walked to the door. He knocked before pushing the door open. “Dr. Rorish? You called. You’re message was a little lacking,” he said. “So, um, what do you need? What seems to be the problem?”

Mario, or Savetti if you will, danced around the punching bag that inhabited a section of the small hospital gym. He punched. he dodged. He hit. He kicked. He did every boxing move he knew. He even made up a few. Sweat poured down his bare chest and soaked the waistband of his scrub slacks.
It felt good to get this pent-up anger and frustration out. However, ever ounce of annoyance that leaked out was replaced by more. Every, single time he thought about Angus it just flared. Something was wrong with Angus. He needed help. And he wasn’t taking it. In fact, Dr. Leighton seemed to be shutting everyone out. It was going to blow up on him; he knew it.
Dr. Rorish came into the room. Oh great, what did I do now? he wondered, stopping his exercise routine. He’d never seen Leanne visit the hospital gym so he doubted she was here for the equipment (she could be of course). He was also the only person in the gym. So the only logical thing was he’d done something wrong.
Grabbing a towel, he wiped his chest and face off. “Am I overtime for my break?” he asked. “I needed to let out steam. Did you know, I just listened to the sound of complete and utter betrayal and followed that.”

both? i’m not exactly shy but i do like and tend to keep to myself. plus there are days when i want to talk to people, any random people and days i just don’t. i would say i was some degree of shy as a kid but experiences have really opened me up more and i’ve become more confident with who i am
17. Have you ever been arrested and why?
nope. because i was a legit goodie twoshoes as a kid and then i started med school and doing anything that might involve being arrested would probably destroy my career.

Usually I tell off people when I want to, but Izzy or Meredith maybe
21. Do you enjoy hot weather, or do you prefer colder temperatures?
hot because i grew up in florida and enjoyed that. plus i enjoy being outside which is much easier when it’s warm, or even hot.
23. If you could describe yourself in one sentence, what would you say?
a superstar with a scalpel, duh.
25. What do you think is the meaning of life?
People change people, for better or worse.
