Went over to the #RoseArtMuseum at Brandeis to check out three Frida Kahlo self-portraits they currently have on view- as well as selections from their permanent collection. . Some highlights from the permanent collection (for me) were a classic #RoyLichtenstein comic panel, a super saturated color-field from #MorrisLouis, and a very Rothkoesque #AlfredGottlieb. Matthew Barney, #YayoiKusuma, and Nan Goldin rounded out the mix. . If you’re up for an arty afternoon- the Rose is (always) free and only a 20 minute drive from Boston. They’re still reserve a spot on-line at this point, so plan ahead. #artstagram #museummonday (on Thursday) #Brandeis #artmuseum #artmuseums (at Rose Art Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc6WgoGsqZY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Love with Obstacles 60’, - See trailer at: https://vimeo.com/409809012 @projectesd A film by Dora García. Premiered at the exhibition of the same title presented at the Rose Art Museum, first García's solo show in the US. Courtesy: Dora García and Auguste Orts Love with Obstacles focuses on author, Marxist feminist, October revolutionary, political exile and diplomat, Alexandra Kollontai (St. Petersburg,1872- Moscow, 1952). The film dives into the conservation of her legacy in Moscow archives, what has been told and untold, and her vision of the future of a socialist feminist revolution. Love with Obstacles is the first part of the feature film Amor Rojo (to be completed 🤞in 2021) which will draw a fuller portrait of a figure that is able to bridge a century of feminisms, from first wave to fourth and fifth, across a couple of oceans, from Russia to Mexico and the Pacific. Through her legacy and its place in the history of ideas, the film seeks to draw a genealogy to today's renewed surge of feminism. #doragarcia #contemporaryart #artgallery #roseartmuseum #lovewithobstacles #femalefreedom #augusteorts #alexandrakollontai https://www.instagram.com/p/B_RjjSOKieq/?igshid=j5jjhzffs7fa

She has many names. Posted @withregram • @roseartmuseum Today we’re featuring #5womenartists currently on view at the Rose for you to experience virtually! In these powerful works we are presented with Dora Garcia’s focus on the concept of love as a political tool, a feeling of tender incompleteness conjured by Joy Episalla’s photo triptych "pillow 2,” a translation of clothing worn by protestors at women-led marches in Ellen Lesperance’s "The Path of Feminye," a self-portrait by Myra Grenne using wet-plate collodion, a process that dates to the nineteenth century and is linked to practices of ethnographic classification, and Caroline Woolard investigation into systems of collaboration and cooperation. . . . . . . #womenshistorymonth #roseartmuseum #roseartcollection #themeeting #lovewithobstacles #yesterdaystomorrow #brandeis #brandeisuniversity #waltham #walthamtourism #boston #bosarts #museumfromhome #bosart #virtual #virtualart #doragarcia #joyespisalla #myragreene #ellenlesperance #carolinewoolard https://www.instagram.com/p/B-FjjCgKVkG/?igshid=1bjkm0yfkbct2
