My ex-friend (an anti larrie ugh) has loved 1d FOREVER. I used to tease her about it (I thought the boys were overrated and looked down on 1d fans. I was an idiot) but then they released Four and Made In The A.M. and I was like 'oh shit this music might actually be good who woulda thunk?' and I started to stan them. Larry was just a natural progression for me. While the media said otherwise I grew steadily more convinced. As a closeted teenager Larry/their support has helped me immeasurably.
