Secret Lives | Dmitrei & Rose
It had been slow and steady, but Dmitrei had begun to gain the trust of his subjects. Despite being one of the Queen’s closest confidants, he showed time and again that he used his influence to help them. He was not a good man, but he was not a stupid one either.
Never make enemies, when you can make friends, he had once told Lynessa.
He had long suspected that there were rebels hiding in his lands. He had yet to discover who they were, but with time he was sure he would weed them out. He had never been much bothered with them, even though they had always been in the back of his mind. The resistance had been a tiny torn in the Queen’s side, but most thought that they would slowly die out and the rest would give up.
But they had continued and grown stronger and now Dmitrei meant to find them. And to help them. The more distractions the Queen had outsider her walls, the less likely she was to look for disturbances inside them.
While Dmitrei Massard had told everyone living in the de Montfort lands that he would always see to their concerns, he made a point of visiting each of them at least once a year and speak with them directly.
Clutching his book to his chest, Dmitrei avoided a puddle as he approached the l’Archer cottage. When he knocked, Rose answered. “I am surprised not to find you at work,” He said, a small smile playing on his lips, “But I am glad of it. I once suspected that you never slept at all.” He paused, “Do you have a moment to speak with me?” He asked.
