☼ - appearance headcanon
during her flight to the wall - and subsequent time spent living amongst the night’s watch - alys’ appearance changed dramatically. when she’d first arrived, she was half frozen and half starved, scarcely more than skin and bones. though she regained some weight once safely under ned stark’s protection, she bears the gaunt shape of her face and the marks leftover from her flight like battle scars.
♡ - romantic headcanon
it’s not in her blood to be particularly soft or nurturing, and growing up the youngest, she never really needed to be. alys’ mother had drilled into her exactly what would be expected of her when she became a northern wife, but she’d always viewed it as an obstacle she’d deal with at some bague later. when she finally was married in the frozen wasteland of castle black, all her fears about not being a good enough bride returned in full force. but sigorn never expected that of her; her husband didn’t want a complacent lady, he appreciated the wolf for what she was. realizing this was the first time she realized she could love her wildling husband.
☆ - happy headcanon
lord karstark’s intent to marry alys off to robb stark had never been a secret, and while as a young girl she had no interest in marriage, she always loved the many trips to winterfell that came out of her father’s ambition. when she was eight, robb and sansa took her to see the winter roses for the first time. the youthful joy, the awe at such a beautiful sight, the vibrant blues of the petals blooming in the frigid northern air - alys will never forget any of these things. when she thinks of all that has happened between her family and the starks, memories of childish laughter and scattered petals remind her that things may still be okay.
