                    I gotta leave for a while. 

          One hand held her wrist in a loose grip. Of course that’s what he would say after the uncharacteristic quiet that had descended over him the past few days. His usual smiles and easy-going demeanor had been tempered. Distant, distracted. He kept looking off to the horizon as if something was there, or as if he could hear something. 

                     You said you’d come with me, once. You still willin’ to do that?

Admitting not only to himself - but to another human no less - that the current plan was not working as intended ( if it could be said to be working at all ), had been difficult. pride swallowed the rest of his thoughts, self-perseverance erasing that which was bothering him. he’d survived through a lot more than this. the advice though came as a surprise, kindness of the heart pouring softly like a water fountain through the words she spoke — something else he did not want to accept, perhaps could not. 

for a second, the thoughts lulled through the mind, swirling and simmering — to keep moving forward — what did that even mean?

‘ The future is uncertain. But perhaps... that is for the best for the... current circumstances. ‘ 

If he did not know that future, maybe it would be easier to put one foot in front of the other and continue to walk.

@roseuscrystallum is my best friend and deserves far more interaction and love for her OC than she actually gets. I'm sure everyone who knows her won't deny that she's a fantastic friend OOC, but I wish more people would actually stick with roleplaying with her because, if your muses get on well, she will be almost 100% dedicated to fleshing out their interactions and relationships more on top of being a great friend to you OOC.

              He usually refrained from looking for her on the first day. The first day was spent recovering. His magic was drained. His mind was in shambles. He often found a relatively safe place to sleep off pain, get his energy back up, to heal. He was usually better a few days later, when he could go find a place to beg for a job and get himself settled. Only then did Artemios seek out Sora. Because he always wanted to see her with a smile on his face. She deserved no less. She had enough burdening her soul without his own problems on her shoulders. He liked being the one who put the smile on her face, not any other way around. 

              This time was unlike the others. His travels away from her world had been anything but kind. He remembered his last death in bits and pieces that were quickly coming back to him the same way he’d been torn apart. And it was maddening. The echoed pain traveling through his skin, the screaming, begging, that only existed in his mind. He thought he’d reached his limit; that there was nothing more which could break him, but he’d been wrong. Artemios would not make the same mistake again. 

               Artemios used magic he didn’t really have to find her as he always did.

               He found her on the outskirts of the usual city, the one she’d told him was called La Belle. And at first, he was happy enough to see her that he forgot for one moment everything that came before. He was able to give a grin at her scowling face; how long had it been this time? And then the backlash hit him like a lightning bolt down his spine. He spit up blood into one bandaged hand, knees buckled and crumpled.
