Thank you, lovely! Congrats to you too!! <3
Pairing: Darcy Lewis/Jane Foster
The lab was dark aside from Jane’s lamp, part of Friday’s Scientist Care Programming to encourage people to abandon their work and head home. Even the lamp was giving off little warning blinks as Jane scratched urgently into her notebook. Darcy finger-combed through Jane’s hair, working out tangles from frustration, the spots of grease from leaky machinery. She twisted and folded the hair between her fingers, following Jane’s cock of the head and the little nods of satisfaction, until it was tucked tidily into a french braid.
“Okay, Janie,” Darcy said, snapping the tail of a braid into a hair tie. “Time to turn down for-”
“What?” Jane snapped, suddenly looking up and rearing back as she realized all the lights had gone off.
Darcy snorted and then bit her smile away. “It’s closing time, boss.”
“Oh, no, I can’t,” Jane said, bloodshot eyes blinking blearily. “Can you override the lights, please? I want to test this theory.”
“I can’t. That’s the point of the program,” Darcy said. She had helped design the program. But she definitely wasn’t about to set a precedent of cracking it for unnecessary science benders. “C’mon. Think of those enchiladas we have waiting for us? Bubble baths? Footie pajamas?”
Jane was already back to her notes before Darcy finished.
Fine then. Darcy retreated into the depths of the lap, carefully toeing across the floor to avoid any abandoned wrenches or lead pipes. (Or any of the other Clue murder weapons for that matter.) She made it to the little snack fridge and grabbed her secret weapon before making her return journey to Jane’s desk.
“I just have to run some tests,” Jane mumbled as Darcy set a hand on her back. “You go home, I’ll meet you there.”
“Noooo,” Darcy said. Because she was not an amateur. “We’re a package deal. Here, just lemme get a vitamin into you, okay?”
Jane sighed and rolled her eyes but opened her mouth and stuck her tongue out. Darcy placed one perfect blueberry into place and watched Jane’s face as she closed her mouth and it popped ripely behind her teeth.
Her eyes widened slightly and the corners of her lips curved and she hummed, chewing and swallowing. Darcy let her scribble a handful more words.
“Want another?” she asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
Darcy fed her a blackberry and Jane’s smile widened as she snapped a seed between her teeth. The older woman’s lips parted expectantly and Darcy laughed as her eyebrows wiggled over her eyes that were still focused on the page in front of her. She fed her another blueberry.
“Mmm…” Jane’s eyes flickered toward her hands where the bowl sat. “What else you got?”
Darcy popped a raspberry into Jane’s mouth and smeared the pink juice over her bottom lip.
“Don’t think I don’t see those strawberries,” she said, twisting away from her desk to part her knees around Darcy’s legs.
Darcy grinned, and offered the strawberry between her fingers, laughing as Jane took small bites until she was nibbling at her fingers.
“Ready to go?” Darcy asked.
Jane bit her lip and glanced back at her notebook.
“Berries for dessert at home,” Darcy bargained. “In bed. A la Darcy.”
“Sold,” Jane said, snapping her notebook shut.
