I mentioned Kalim to my mother (speaks Arabic) and she immediately clocked the fact that, based on how you say or see it, his name can mean one of two things,

Kalim al Asim: "The One who Speaks" "The Protector"

Or

Kalim al Asim: "The Generous" "The Great"

I personally see it as the first, cause I think it's cool especially paired with my hc that Kalim used to be selectively mute/goes non verbal after traumatic events and that his name literally means "the one who speaks"

Plus it's fun that the person with the last name "Protector" is the one being protected 24/7

Yuichi Overblot.

TW: Mention of Violence and Wounds

With every overblot. Yuichi gets one scar.

Some are huge, (A blot spear from Riddle, grazing his arm and leaving a deep gash in it's wake, claw marks on his shoulder from where Leona grabbed him and threw him into the stands), some are small, unnoticeable (Tentacle suckers burned into his flesh on his left arm, small enough for them to be covered with makeup, 2 little scars from a snake bite.), others take some time to find (a scar on his palm from Vil, burned skin from where Idia had pushed him on his lower back) and some you wouldn't even know was there (a thin scar on his wrist, from his dream, the one thing that had stayed).

Well, as they started to heal over, those scars kept some blot inside of Yuichi as well. Yuichi isn't from Twisted Wonderland, so unlike the other students, he can't expel blot just by resting for a couple days. That blot stays inside his system, slowly creeping into his blood stream...

It's fine after the first few...but as more scars are added, the blot quickly grows.

But for blot to be useful, it has to have negative emotions to latch onto. Yuichi, during the bad times, thinks that he's more stronger due to adrenaline or whatever it is. But in his blood stream, it's the blot working it's way into his muscles (Idia gets a ferocious slap at the end of book 6)

Grim is Yuichi's little brother, his family, his companion since the start. And when Grim overblots (and hurts Yuichi before he runs off, a claw mark down his left cheek), it's just a crashdown of everything that has happened that year. Every time he's been paralyzed by fear, every moment fearing for his life and the lives of the students around him. Top it off from a wrong word from Crowley? ("The chances of fatality for Grim are high, we've been lucky 7 times before, I don't think we'd be lucky this time-")

All the previous wounds reopen, seeping out blot and Yuichi breaks.

Overblotted Yuichi is unnerving not because he's scary, not because he can kill you with a snap of his fingers. It's because, overblot Yuichi is almost too tranquil. The other overblotters all remember the pain then the adrenaline high during their overblots.

Yuichi is calm, composed, quiet even as he trails behind Grim, eyes blank as he stares at his friends- his family. Like he doesn't even register that they're there anymore.

He's nothing like the well meaning chatty guy who tries to be as positive as he can. Overblot Yuichi is passive and so very cynical. He talks like his death due to the overblot is already written in stone. He's too tired to feel anything other than utter despair and a... weird sense of relief.

He hits the previous overblotters where it hurts, pointing his finger as them, voice cracking once and never again.

This is their fault.

He would've never become this monster if they hadn't given him the blot to do so.

And they all know it's true.

Yknow I used to think that I wasn’t a good Pagan/witch cause I don’t like all plants on Earth and of course my whole scared of bugs thing and stuff but I realized just now that uhhhh I don’t like/don’t care about plants meant for purely aesthetic use and that’s probably the same as not liking someone because they’re too self absorbed or too preoccupied with their appearance. Which doesn’t necessarily make me less of a person, so not liking every plant that grows on this green earth doesn’t make me less of a pagan/witch.
