Texas Democratic Congressional Candidate CHANGES HIS NAME To Avoid Conservative Past
A Texas conservative CHANGED HIS NAME to run for Congress as a Democrat!
Posted on Jan 26, 2026
A few years ago, James “Jim” MacKay was a name that Texas teachers, librarians, and civil rights advocates learned to dread. Now, under a completely different name, he’s asking Democrats to send him to Congress.

Do you know the reason why your parents/carers gave you your birth name?
Yes
I used to know but I've forgotten now
No
“bro why are you changing your name again?” gotta keep the fae on their toes homie
I am happy to announce that I have filled out all of my paperwork for a legal name change and will soon send it out to the courts.
Pretty soon I will be legally Penelope Chloe O.
It's actually so hard to find a good masculine name that starts with the letter J since all of them have been taken by other men in my family. I think legally I'm going to use the masculine version of my dead name but informally go by "Jeb" as a placeholder until I find something better.

I should get around to legally changing my name, but I'm not sure if I want to go by the name I've been using for some years now.
Maybe I'll just change it to the masculine version of my dead name. Michaela (not real dead name) -> Michael
I'll have to test it out first
Hello! What's your name?
It's Michael
Nice to meet you, Michael!
Maybe that ISN'T my name. The first two syllables sound like my deadname and it gives me dysphoria.
What's your name, then?
Uhhhhh…unsure? All I know is that it has to start with the letter J because most of the men in my family have names starting with "J".
YOUR NAME IS JEB.
I have no Ob-JEB-ctions (objections).
