hey, i just wanted to say thank you so much for all your cat empire/ ross irwin related stuff! i just went to see them play in melbourne the other day so am on a cat empire high atm and it was brilliant to see some tce stuff on tumblr when i went looking! have a great day :)
Awh, no worries. It's a great deal of enjoyment for me to post anything related to my most favourite band and one of their "spin off" solo artists. I mean, if people haven't heard Ross do his own music, they are missing out on some sweet, lush vocals.
I'm on a similar high, as someone else posted in the tags, it is almost like a religious experience, it can change your life or just make you feel so happy.Thank you!
Mortlock Photography & Media: Back in July we had the pleasure of catching up with Felix Riebl and Roscoe James Irwin in Portugal during The Cat Empire’s massive European Summer tour.
As one of the headlining acts at this years Superbock Superrock festival, alongside Tame Impala, Woodkid and Massive Attack, The Cat Empire had an opportunity to play their first ever show in Portugal to thousands of loyal fans. The crowd were wild with anticipation and proceeded to chant along to every song, creating the perfect festival atmosphere. The Super Bock Super Rock Festival is located on a breathtaking piece of coastline just on the outskirts of Lisbon, and has been hosting festivals with quality international and local bands for the last two decades.
We are excited to present this short interview with Felix and Roscoe, filmed just moments before their performance.
Roscoe James Irwin: One Eye Open
GUYS! TODAY THE COOLEST THING EVER HAPPENED TO ME!
okay so a while ago i went to a jazz festival where i was blown away by the way some jazz musicians are able improv with eachother and end up singing the exact same thing, or like sing in thirds with eachother (ahh so cool) and so over that weekend i made it my goal to find out how they did it so at every opportunity i asked, and i'm not the best for putting up my hand in front of heaps of people but yep first i asked the idea of north, who are totally awesome but completely misinterpreted what i was saying (to be fair, our venue for the masterclass sucked) and ended up trying to explain soli to me and yeah it was just embarrassing and made me feel pretty dumb, but that night i saw Ross Irwin and seized the opportunity to ask again, so i went up to him and totally kept my cool (although i may have asked for a hug at the end just so that the rest of the group there didn't kill me cos wow far out solid conversation with Ross with literally no evidence but whatever) and he told me that it's about listening and all this stuff which i've kept in mind since, and sorry i'm rambling but i'm almost there okay so then he told me to ask Rai, but i couldn't before i left, but since then i've been tryng super hard with scatting and TODAY I WAS REHEARSING A SOLO WITH MY FRIEND AND WE WERE SCATTING AND WE SANG THE EXACT SAME THING, SAME RHYTHM AND SAME WORDS. IT WAS AMAZING.
