(White Spongy) Rossogolla and Sondesh, K.C. Grandsons

Though, the origin of the Rasgulla is still disputed, whether it originated in Odisha or in Bengal, the white spongy version is the one which is available everywhere nowadays. And facts state that these invented by a guy named Nobin Chandra Das to make them less perishable. His son, K.C. Das popularised it and till date, his grandsons run the famous K.C. Grandsons Sweet shop. I stopped by the shop in Chirch Street, Bengaluru to taste how the original tastes like. The rasgulla had the perfect amount of sponginess, soaking up generous amounts of sugar syrup. But a rasgulla taste best when it is at that optimum coolness. Though the texture was awesome, the temperature kept it from topping the list of best rasgullas I've had.

Then I ordered sondesh, another quintessential Bengali sweet. I don't remember having one before this, but it tasted like a typical chenna sweet which you get on festivals. Good alternative to a rasgulla.
