How do I pair my Rugby Laser with a receiver?

In order to use the Smart Targeting (automatic slope catching) feature it is necessary for the Rod Eye-180 Digital RF Receiver to be paired with the Rugby 820, 840, 870, or 880. This enables the products to communicate using a radio signal. If the Rugby and Rod Eye-180 were purchased together as a package, the pairing has already been done at the factory. If the receiver has not yet been paired with the Rugby, it will be necessary for the user to pair them using the following procedure:
1. Turn off the Rugby and the Rod Eye-180.
2. Press and hold the power button on the Rugby for 5 seconds to turn on the unit in pairing mode. The Rugby will beep 5 times.
3. Press and hold the power button on the Rod Eye-180 for 5 seconds. The Rod Eye-180 will beep 5 times.
When the pairing is successful, the X-axis indicator LED and the Y-axis indicator LED flash green and the Rugby beeps 5 times quickly. If the pairing is unsuccessful, the X-axis indicator LED and the Y-axis indicator LED flash red 5 times quickly. If this occurs, the procedure should be tried again.
Tip: Pairing of the Rugby 820, 840, 870, or 880 and the Rod Eye-180 can be negatively affected by Wi-Fi in the area. If pairing is unsuccessful and Wi-Fi is nearby, move to an area away from the Wi-Fi and perform the pairing procedure.
Final note: And by the way, the same process applies to pairing the Leica remotes with the Leica Rugby laser.
