Looking for a tote for a shield spell. Any insight?
I guess it kind of depends the type of shield you want to have, its properties, and how creative you want to get. Just know Blood Letting will be one of the active components needed for the shields, as I see it as part of ones soul protecting themselves or others.
The base of the rolles is as follows: 10+ you gain +2 armor, mix its +1 and you get the monsters attention, miss your shield reacts horribly to where you take extra +1 harm per attack and become basically a monster magnent (keeper choice on the last one and how long the effect is).
Self, personal shield? Runes etched into the skin and a spilling of blood onto them (yours or another).
Shield for another? Same as above, but instead of etching the runes, the person paints it on the other persons skin with special magic pigments/paints.
Elemental shield? Using the element in question in casting (campfire for fire, the hardest stone for earth, steam for air, ice or water for... water, etc.). Instead of shielding you from damage. It only shields you for that element with the rolls above.
Demon/angelic shielding? The materials will be difficult to obtain unless you have a supplier: demons blood or hellfire sulfur to protect yourself from angelic attacks, and angel halos and holy feathers to protect yourself from demonic attacks. I would go into my thought process for angels/holy and demons/unholy but I would go on a very long rambling about it lol.
Big shield to cover entire party? Same as shield from another, but instead if one person bloodletting, the whole party has to mix in their blood into a bowl (unsanitary i know).
Shield for building/village/town/city? Thats Big Magic territory.
The shield look can depend entierly on the character as well.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you want more examples ^^
