Why did you leave? (prepares for feels)
Her eyes are downcast for a long while. The space between them is filled with silence and it is suffocating in its own right. Why did she leave? The real question should be if she was actually coming back. He wants answers that she’s not ready to give, and she wants something that he wants no part of. Or was that even it? She wasn’t certain. She wasn’t certain of anything anymore. Nothing but the crumpled leaf at the tip of her boot. If she stepped on it, it would crunch into dust. She wanted to obliterate it just to hear that sweet sweet sound. But that wasn’t what the leaf wanted. Somewhere in there, she felt it represented his heart. But she never liked metaphors.
"I don’t like responsibilities, Mick." That’s what it boiled down to. A childish reason, but a reason nevertheless. "I don’t do commitment. I don’t do children. Ah…you were asking too much, yeah?" A stray clump of hair found its way into her eye, and she pushed it back clumsily. "I was in it to have fun. But this…ah…it wasn’t what I signed up for." Alice shifts her weight to her heels, balancing there for a moment before slamming the rest of her weight onto that leaf. Crunch.
"If you’d like, I can find a new dealer. No need to mix business with…ah…awkwardness." Her foot lifted, and the remains drifted away in the breeze.
