Rough guidelines of someone who has been part of the boycott since the 13th August
Do the best you can, not the most. We're doing this after all longterm and indefinitely. It can be very demotivating to do great Acts of sacrifice and self denial in an attempt to change something quickly and then nothing keeps on happening. This burns out and not everyone can necessarily do the most effective thing or even a lot.
Many people only doing a little bit (even if it is just refusing time spent on youtube or youtube hours or spending that time through a more privacy secured frontend like newpipe) is way better and more likely to succeed than few people doing a lot (completely quit youtube, Google and other alphabet services).
Try to become less dependent of YouTube and not enforce change by yourself
This is a marathon and not a sprint
Again, a marathon. Not a sprint (I cannot emphasise that enough).
it's helpful to have more than one reason to quit youtube and be that other reason only to quit or manage one's own youtube addiction
Even with that additional reason, remember that everyone can fall off a high horse.
Don't feed the trolls. You don't have to justify why you’re doing a boycott to other people. You don't have to Humor the assumptions of you just being mad at youtube, even when it is somewhat the case with the ai age verification policy.
Don't play the Inquisition here. It’s not your job to police or manage how others do their boycott or to demand more of them (see point 1). You don't know what’s going on in their life after all.
Make instead voluntary guidelines that are supposed to inform and help those that both want to do more and can do more.
