Thoughts on Thanksgiving...
Thanksgiving has a ton of great memories for me, both as a child and as an adult with my own children. But I’m not feeling it this year.
The more things change, the more they stay the same goes the cliché, and the more I mature the more it makes sense to me; A huge cover up for a bunch of greedy cons from afar that decimated an entire population of indigenous people because of their really poor immigration policy, shady business dealings with a smile and the destructive qualities (oxymoron?) of an invading culture. I’m just telling it like it is.
Maybe next year will feel less like a lie and more like a means to make things right between people in America that are still waiting (in vain?) for justice to manifest.
I will, however, be grateful to those that choose to share the happiness they feel, as memories serve them, and food is plentiful; but don’t forget the 364 other days of the year when reality still dominates this pathetic down sliding country.
Aloha and thanks for your eyes.
