anon not only do I agree I think that particular panel is the dumbest place to get pissed. Because 1. The character Bruce is trying to protect could very easily fall into the "born sexy yesterday" trope and OF COURSE he would be overprotective when the person she's dating is literally a demigod, as much as we hate the dad with a shotgun trope (I'm kinda neutral tbh) in this case it makes more sense then usual, wether or not it makes sense for Bruce personally - it was a common trope at the time, meant to be funny 2. Bruce DOESNT SAY NO METAS IN GOTHAM. do you know where that's from?? An elseworlds, and do you know who says it?? Barbara Gordon. As far as I am aware Bruce has never said it or tried to enforce it beyond singular instances backed up by reasoning.
Truly "making up a guy to get mad at and then getting mad at them" right there.
Chapter 2 is now re-edited! This is where signficant changes will start to take effect. Logan is now introduced in chapter 2 instead of chapter 1, and the dialogue is rearranged to flow easier. I also removed some inner monologuing to make it less clunky.
id read your fanfic if it wasnt prinxiety or logicality. do you write anything else?
Not right now. I ship everything (except the real yikes one and I’m not a fan of moxiety except in @altruistic-skittles’ YHMH series)
I do have a Tuck Everlasting AU coming up with focus on Moceit and eventual Analogical, but there are parts with subtle Prinxiety because it’s essential to the plot.
I’m sorry that the ships prohibit you from reading my fic.
I’d love to hear more about remy’s backsotey in roundabout if you have anything to share
Heck yeah I do!
This got super long, so I put it under the cut.
Remy actually comes from an incredibly wealthy family in Georgia. He has no siblings, so his parents put a great deal of pressure on him growing up to one day take over the responsibilities of his mother’s (yes, his mother’s) position in their company. His parents were aware of his eye condition, but acted as though it wasn’t that grand of a deal. They treated him as though he was completely normal, which he liked at times but often caused disagreements involving his sunglasses and his mother’s frustration about him wearing them inside.
After college when he was thrown headfirst into the whirlwind of stocks and trade deals and endless exhausting meetings, he had begun going out to casinos on the weekends to de-stress. Needless to say, that quickly spiraled out of control until his parents began to take notice. His father was more concerned about his son’s well being, but his mother quickly sent him to therapy to try and repair the image of their family name before any permanent damage was done.
At first, Remy didn’t take therapy seriously. His therapist spoke so robotically and gave him looks of sympathy that he absolutely hated. He just wanted to have fun, why couldn’t anyone understand that? Eventually, he decided enough was enough and moved away. His parents stopped communication and cut him off financially. He spent two years essentially living in casinos and almost entirely off of alcohol and beer nuts.
There was one day that he’d woken up hungover in his apartment, with a throbbing headache and dehydrated beyond belief. He was too tired to get up, and decided to run by to get some coffee before getting back to the casino.
And that was the day he met Emile.
They had both been in the same line, Emile, two people ahead of him, but Remy could see him dancing to the music over the radio, and something told him to talk to him before he left. So, ever the charmer, he ordered his drink and walked over to the table Emile was sitting at. One almost smooth pick-up line later that had them both chuckling to themselves, and “just a quick coffee run” turned into two hours talking about anything and everything.
The casino was still on his mind when he left Starbucks, but this time it wasn’t hard to shrug it off and go home. Up until that moment, he didn’t have any motives to change. But Emile’s number in his phone gave him plenty of reasons to move forward.
Remy’s moment of clarity came from a place of love. He shared his problems with Emile on their second date, and not longer after he was going to AA and GA and attempting to see a therapist again, this time one Emile recommended who specialized in addiction. One who didn’t give him looks of pity but listened without being utterly condescending.
It wasn’t easy, but after a while he fell into a rhythm that suited his lifestyle, got a job in business that didn’t make him want to tear his hair out, and made a somewhat long distance relationship with Emile work out (with frequent visits, of course). Two years into sobriety, he decided to sponsor someone in GA, to which he met Virgil and the rest is history.
I love your writing so much, and Roundabout is such an amazing fic. It's clear how much it means to you and other people who've read it. I can honestly say it's one of my favorite fics ever.
Ahhhh! Thank you so so much!! Roundabout actually just passed 7000 hits recently (I actually burst into tears when I saw it). It really has helped me through a lot. This year has been very taxing for me (not just because of the pandemic), and I’ve had a few slips with my inner struggles. Writing characters going through the same issues I have is very therapeutic. Writing Borderline (le sequel) is allowing me to flesh out complicated relationships and display situations I’m familiar with, such as losing a parent, dealing with a sibling relationship while harboring old issues you both haven’t fully moved past, and digging into parts of your childhood you hoped to never relive.
TL;DR: Thank you so much for reading and I’m so glad you like the story! And, free therapy in the form of comfort characters is always a plus.
Is Remy blind? I looked up his condition and it said some people go blind and I just got confused lol
Okay, so Remy has Aniridia Syndrome, meaning his pupils are large and misshapen and take up most of his iris. This condition is present in both of his eyes. He can see quite normal, aside from slight blurry vision that is corrected with his prescription sunglasses. The sunglasses also keep bright lights from hurting his eyes too harshly, and he doesn’t night drive under any circumstances. Some cases of Aniridia lead to partial or complete blindness, but Remy’s case is more mild.
Hii I saw that youre accepting asks for Roundabout. How do Virgil and Vanessa get along?🦔
AHHH getting to talk about them makes me so happy!
Virgil loves his niece!! He makes up for the time he missed by watching her when Vivian is out for long business trips. During the summer, she comes to New York from Chicago to see her uncle and grandparents, and Virgil fulfills the Fun Uncle role he had wanted by taking her to concerts (age appropriate ones obviously) and his mother teaches them how to cook. Vanessa asks him questions about life she's too worried to ask her mother about, which usually give Virgil existential dread and result in the two of them eating ice cream with nature documentaries.
He learns quickly that she's like her mother but dialed up to ten. Vanessa is calm and collected but when she knows she's right she will not back down from an argument. He's learned to let her win and when to cut his losses.
Tldr they're the cool uncle-niece duo that could take over the world.
Hi! I just recently read through your fic called Roundabout and I just want to say if really freaking amazing! The twists and turns honestly have me stunned and the time skip totally threw me, it’s riveting! Your a fabulous writer and I honestly thank you for creating this fic.
