Experiemental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

Greetings followers!  Hello from EPCOT!  It is that time again for an update!  I'm sorry this is a bit late, but here it is!

This past Saturday, my roommates and I (minus Tiffany) ate breakfast at Old Key West Resort and went to Magic Kingdom and had the best day ever.  We met Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Princess Aurora.  They were all so sweet!

On Sunday, I had training in morning at EPCOT called Discovery Day!  We learned about the history of EPCOT and Walt Disney's vision for the park.  We then took a 2 hour walking tour of EPCOT (LOL, professional business clothes on a 95 degree day).  Afterwards, we learned about working with diversity and how to apply the 4 Key Basics to working at EPCOT.  

After all that, I learned that my attraction is SPACESHIP EARTH.  I could not be more thrilled.  Spaceship Earth is my favorite ride at EPCOT and the outfit is pretty stellar (only a hint of sarcasm).  Unfortunately, Spaceship Earth is going down for refurbishment for a week, so I'm not actually starting my attraction training until next Thursday.  Until then, I'm stationed at stroller parking for The Seas with Nemo and Friends, which isn't as exciting, but is okay.  

On Monday, I had my park familiarization and met my trainer, Amie.  She is amazing.  Seriously, I love her.  We walked around Future World and she gave me the low-down on some stuff about working at EPCOT.  She kept it real and I love it.  I saw the break rooms I will use, how to clock in/out, and got my costumes!  My Nemo costume is just a simple EPCOT outfit since it's not technically my attraction.  I'll upload pictures later. 

On Tuesday, I had to be at work at 1 pm (or 13 o'clock in Disney time) and got ready to do some hardcore stroller parking.  I worked with an Australian guy (Chris?  Nick?  One of those names).  It was nice to have someone to talk to.  I basically just kept the stroller parking lot clear and neat and answered guests' questions.  A tad boring at times, but I like talking to the guests.  The Nemo cast members are also amazing and have great senses of humor.  I love hanging out with them on breaks and such.

I had yesterday and today off, so I've basically been on the couch catching up on YouTube videos and watching TV.  I'm soaking up my time to sit on the couch because I'll be on my feet for the next 5 days.

We create happiness.

AHOY INTERNET!  It is that time again for me to update you on my Disney adventure. :)

SPOILERS AHEAD!  Tread carefully.

Today I went to my Traditions class at Disney University.  It was my first official day of work!  Tiffany, Rachel, and I had to wake up at 5:30 AM (LOL the things we do for Disney) in order to be out by the buses at 6:45 AM.  It was still dark out.

We boarded our buses to DU (on which we all had to sit in separate seats).  I ended up next to a guy who was definitely not a morning person, as he did not respond to any of my jokes or acknowledge my presence--bye.  I also met a girl named Disney!  Her first name is literally Disney.  And I thought I was obsessed.

We rode all the way to Disney University which is located behind Magic Kingdom.  It was so exciting rolling up to the building for our professional class.  The building is decked out in Disney decor (duh) and it instantly makes you feel at home.  Tiffany and I were fangirling the minute we walked inside the building.

Tiff and I were in the same group (along with the other Megan Johnson LOL).  We sat at tables of 6 people and learned about the company motto (aka the title of this post) and other information about working.  We also got our company IDs and nametags!  

We also went on a walking tour of Magic Kingdom under the tunnels (!!!) and learned about guest service.  It was so cool going underground!  Secret agent status: achieved.

So basically, the morning was great, despite having to wake up so early.  It just got me even more excited to start my on-site training on Sunday!!!  I have the next 2 days off and I'm planning on resting before my actual work schedule starts.  I'll be sure to check in again soon!

Alpharetta, Georgia is nice.

Hi all! I'm currently still in Georgia with family. We got here last night and are about to leave for Orlando! Just wanted to pop in, say hi, and give an update. Hope you all are having a great day! TGIF!

The Magical Journey Begins: Part 1

Tonight is my last night at home in good ole Maryland before my family and I leave for our trip to Florida to check me in for the Disney College Program!

Here is the trip itinerary for curious minds: 

8/8/13: Drive 10 hours to Georgia 8/9/13: Drive to Orlando 8/10/13: Park day! 8/11/13: Rest 8/12/13: DCP CHECKIN!

I'm feeling a wide range of emotions at the moment.  I'm excited, nervous, anxious, scared, etc. (mostly excited and anxious, but don't let me mom know that ;).

It feels very weird to not be moving back to college with all my friends, which is what I would be doing around this time if I were still in school.  A new chapter of my life is starting and I cannot wait to see what happens.

My next update will probably be from Georgia.  I promise to post pictures and funny things that happen along the way.

And a quick shoutout to my bestie Christina for watching our dog while we're away.  My room is tidy (sort of?) and the bed is made for you.  Enjoy the pool and cable!
