I’ve been working on a new story that is completely my own. It’s a large undertaking as I spent more than a year on worldbuilding alone, and trying to refashion the elves and dwarves in my fantasy work away from Tolkien as much as I can. And also to try to not allow Dragon Age things bleed into it either. Naturally there will be leanings that are Tolkien-ish and Dragon Age-ish. They’ve both played a large role in my love of high fantasy.
Anyhow I began my work as usual then hit a road block. I’ve been wanting to revise my Dragon Age fanfic I started on AO3 so I’ve pulled a copy of it for total revision. This way I can focus on something else (my fanfic in this case) until the block in my story clears up.
I'm currently working on Chapter One (formerly listed -incorrectly- as the Prologue). There will be a lot of elements taken out or minimalized, the writing style will be different, but my hope is that this will result in a better and more refined version. I love the story between my OC Rowan and Solas.
For those of you that have already read what is currently on AO3 (and are STILL waiting for Part Three’s ending) understand that it will remain up as it is. The newer version will be posted separately from the original as a new series with an alternative title. I want to allow the old one to remain, at least until this one is complete.
I truly want to do my romance story between Solas and Rowan justice.
I’ll also resume my approach I took in the past here on Tumblr: posting Chapter excerpts before they go live. I’m also considering reopening my Ko-Fi for my fanart and such.
For reference here is the link to the original on AO3:
Ahhh...
It feels good to have my writing "mojo" back again. The further I get towards the end of Part Three to my story the more difficult it is becoming to chart out the next chapter. I have so many hidden tidbits to add since this story does have a plot. Though there is a lot to hide there are still little hints I like to drop here and there so that when the final Part Four of the story comes to a head you, my dear readers, may not only left baffled, but go back to find out all the parts that were right in front of you all along. Having never written anything on this grand of a scale, so this is tricky for me. I even have a large portion of the Chapter 14 fleshed out.
But I finally have this Chapter outlined, overall dialogue filled in, and now I need to add all the "filler" to it. I NEED this. I need to get back to my story so I am not swallowed by the despair I feel regarding the current affairs in my country and across the world.
And, as always, stay safe but let your voice be heard!
A PLACE OUT OF TIME: CHAPTER 12 OF PART 3 - ARAVEL TO ARLATHAN
Excerpt: There was one truth that troubled him the most. It had been a thousand years since he tore down the Veil and restored the Fade to the world. The elves were slowly returning to their natural state as each generation lived longer than those before them. Magic was slowly becoming a natural part of the world again, and spirits lived in harmony with the people as they slowly made themselves known. Magic would no longer be the gift of Mages and the Dreamers, it would be a natural part of being Elven. But in time, as before, would-be Gods would rise again, and would they become every bit as destructive as the Evanuris had been? Would these new Gods also fall to chaos and enslave the people, binding them in servitude to them? He had been blind to that fact until now, or he simply had not wanted to see the truth of it.
He felt the past and present colliding, hurling the world towards the inevitable. He craved a mortal life with Rowan. That was their dream, their goal; To live and love and die. But if they gave up what they were, who would stand between the new Gods and the people when the time came? And if they remained as they were would time ravish the love they shared and turn their love to hatred? Was this to be their burden? Was this to be their fate? He couldn't bear the thought of it, without her he would have nothing, he was nothing. And what of their daughter? What would Serenity become in time despite the love they felt for her? Was love enough?
It was a future that made him want to weep like a cold blade had been plunged into his heart.
At long last this Chapter is complete and posted on AO3! I know it’s been a long time waiting, but the world is crazy right now and it’s been hard to keep my head above water making this Chapter the most challenging one to date. I wish my readers and mutuals well and hope you are all taking the best care of yourselves that you can. Be kind to yourself and stay safe!

A Place Out of Time: Chapter 11 of Part 3 - A Helping Hand
Excerpt: The Keeper made his way silently through the crowd and entered his tent. He sat in silence and wept. He wept tears of joy, he wept tears of fear, fear of the change that must come to pass. Sacrifices would have to be made. Lady Rowan's proposition would be the hand that shaped their future and he would have to place his trust in her. They would also have to learn how to reshape their world and survive in it; A world without Gods. The journey would not be easy, but it was both immanent and vital for the continuation of the people.
They had to carve a new path if they were to endure...
Note: I’m certain with the lack of updates on my fanfic for so long many of you may have thought I had abandoned this fic. I assure you I haven’t. Just surviving a series of one illness after another, one of which left me without the function of my hands for months. As we all adjust to life in this moment of crisis of the Coronavirus may we continue to share our fanfics, to continue to write them, to continue our passion for them. Be safe!

Regarding Chapter Twelve of my solavellan fanfic “A Place Out of Time”
We all know how much our beloved 🐺 enjoys talking about the things he loves. For the past TWO MONTHS I have been working on the next chapter of my fanfic but made a HUGE mistake. On a trip to Arlathan another OC in the story asks Solas about his wife, (My inky), Rowan and her past. I have been wrangling this 10,000 word long chapter trying to take pieces out, shorten his answers and thoughts, but we all know that given the opportunity Solas will happily go on and on about anything and everything he loves. I take things out and he finds a way to weave them back in. I shorten them, he makes them longer once more. And that is just 10,000 words of HIM. That does not account for the POV of other OC's that are with Rowan that I wanted to give attention to in the same chapter.
This morning I finally won the battle against him. I hope. Ir abelas, vhenan. It had to be done. I could not have an entire chapter of Solas dedicating his thoughts and feelings of his beloved Rowan, I needed the space for others in the chapter as well.
[Solas greatly disapproves] of me right now. 😂

Last lines to A Place Out of Time: Part Three - Chapter Ten "Revelations”
The Elves looked at one another with uncertainty. Their whole systemic beliefs and the very foundation of their faith had not just been shaken but utterly shattered. They had little choice now but to listen to the Royal Family or face the Dragon again. It now looked as if The Keeper's had lost what little sway they had over their Clans regarding the Royal Family at this point. The entire crowd turned its attention back to Rowan and Solas.
"Well now," Morrigan exclaimed joyfully. "That was educational, wouldn't you agree?"
I know that when I first came to this site I was a writing machine, pumping out chapter after chapter like a steam engine. I’m losing steam, but physical pain is the culprit despite how badly I want to write as passionately, (or at least more regularly), as I had in the past. So NO I am NOT abandoning my fanfic. I just have to wait for when my body is out of Nightmare Mode and allows me to do so. Until my pain manager and I can find something that works, when my hands hurt I can’t type which just happens to be about... every day all day in the winter. 😭💔
Sadly, however, this means I have to abandon the asks from The Solavellan Archives for the time being. (Check out the other amazing Solavellan authors there as well!)
In the meantime, you can find the link to my story on AO3 on my tumblr page.
I finally found a hair mod that actually LOOKS the way I describe my beloved Lavellan, Rowan/Rowhanna. Yes, it’s taken THIS long for someone to create a hair mod that is long and wavy without looking completely ridiculous. I’ll be editing her pictures with new ones shortly...
