January log (yeah I know we have a couple of days left but fuck it) under the cut

Maybe doing a monthly ish log will stick this year? Maybe it won't! We'll see. Doing one would advance my goals of 1. putting myself out there and communicating with others and 2. remembering what the fuck has happened and I've been doing. But I know that I struggle with consistency so???

First off what has happened to me this month:

- important birthdays! Killian and Josh both have b-days in January. Neither was big and flashy this year but every year I'm glad they're around.

- waste pipe in our basement exploded! This was horrible and we're still cleaning up and I still can't use the erg downstairs which had been my every other day exercise routine which has been fucking my mental health up big time!

- snowstorm! We're back to work but there's still snow fucking everywhere which is a problem cuz now I get up to early and home too late to have light to shovel by. Also I don't want to. That's probably not helping tbh. It's still bitterly cold both at work and at home.

Secondly, what have I been up to:

- computer shit! I'm actually quite proud of this one. For Christmas I treated myself to a raspberry pi 5 and a 1tb ssd and I set up a jellyfin server for our digital media. I was way more successful than I anticipated (I was kicking myself the whole time I was buying everything because I neeeeever finish projects and I shouldn't waste all this money and ect.) I'm like the only person in our household who actually uses it but whatever! I really enjoy it and having shows on in the background at work is a great way for me to be less horrifically depressed by the end of the day. Also it's started off a string of computer projects! I'm 2/3rds of the way through coding a discord bot! She's up and running, but I want to add a cat gatcha function and need to talk to Killian about the size of the pics and the frames (every cat is a 5 star). My current project is writing up a program in python using sqlite and flask to make a catalog for our physical media! Do we need this? Absolutely not, is it fun and a good learning experience? Very much so! It sits on a little raspberry pi zero w (might upgrade to nicer hardware after I finish before we start putting books in? Dunno) and anyone on our local network can access the web pages to add, search, delete, edit, or get a random piece of media from a catagory. I finished the adding, searching, and deleting functionality. In the middle of getting editing to work, haven't started random or the css to make it prettier looking. Might integrate an api to get info from isbn numbers and also get specific users the option to check out books? All of this is highly unnecessary but! Not fucking bad for baby's 3rd or 4th python project!

- cosplay is currently on pause cuz it's cold and I'm broke after the pipe, but my plans to be a game cube are commencing. Pants are next, both sewing and 3d modeling and printing the av and power cables / chains for the pants.

- my plans to draw smut every other day have been ah... Not so happening? I've done a couple of pieces but not the habit I was gunning for.

Thirdly, goals for next month:

- continue the computer and especially cosplay stuff! I'm feeling the sadness of no katsu this year but there will be more cons and I want to be the GameCube and also take some vid of my progress!

- try to get better about the gender and name shit that I constantly talk myself out of. Tbh my irl name really doesn't do anything for me? It's just the male version of my dead name and I really wish I'd pushed to have something that I relate to more? I wanna be one of the cringy trans guys with an anime boy name so badly. But like fucking hell, my parents don't even use the right name now? And I feel like I used up my one name change that friends would put up with. But. On the internet you're free to be whoever you want to be and I wanna be called Roxas. Is it dumb? Probably. Is it a hell of a lot more meaningful and relatable to me than my government name? Yeah. Also I wanna add some secondary pronouns cuz I've really been jiving with it/it's tbh? I might make another post about that later.

ANYWAYS this got way too long, but even tho it's under a cut feel free to interact if you got this far and want to. I just didn't want to spam anyone's dash with a long text post.
