On to the 1989 Royal Rumble. This was the first one with 30 entrants, major countdown with buzzer and unlike the Royal Rumble of the year before, this Royal Rumble had main eventers. As you can see from the poster, Hulk Hogan, WWF Champion "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Andre the Giant headlined the event. The tag champs Demolotion entered one and two and thumped each other until Andre came in at number three. Youngsters Curt Hennig and Shawn Michaels stood out. The Brainbusters Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard make their only Royal Rumble appearance. Bad News Brown had a pretty good showing. Koko B. Ware got a "Who the hell is that" from @_undisputedking I love the foreshadowing to the breakup of the Mega Powers with the Savage getting in Hogan's face after he was eliminated with Bad News by Hogan. I forgot how big the Big Bossman used to be before he slimmed down. And Akeem...😩😩😩 So bad. The One Man Gang was an awesome gimmick that was ruined by the Akeem gimmick. And talk about bad gimmicks, I have three words for you: The Red Rooster. I forgot Big John Studd was in this match. I forgot about Studd's brief comeback as a face in the late 1980s. And the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiasie as always is at his best. Good times indeed. #WWF #WorldWrestingFederation #RoyalRumble89 #RoyalRumble1989 #RoyalRumble #Wrestling #ProWrestling #TheEighties #1980s #SiscosFavoriteComics https://www.instagram.com/p/B7PO5zaBR4f/?igshid=1ebeos9a17kzj
