Trunks had told him that his travels would lead him to places populated by familar faces. He had warned him that it would be difficult, painful even, to come across copies of loved ones who didn't know or understand what they meant to him. Goten had listened-- and admittedly discarded that advice.
After all he had been through, how hard could it be to just... see someone?
He regretted having those thoughts as he stared at the familiar (and shorter) male. This man... he had fought for him. Protected him. And in the end... he had died to make sure that Goten and Trunks both would live. For a little longer, at least.
