A young adult, foreign to Japan, made their way down the street. Their eyes weren’t in front of them, but rather transfixed on a coffee cup that was held in their hands. It wasn’t what was on the inside that made them so curious, but rather what was written right in plain sight. It read ‘POIPU’ in shaky English letters. Something about it was endearing, enough to make the youth blind to what was in front of them.
They walked right into a girl with pink hair. The shock caused the coffee to leap out of ‘Poipu’s’ hands, and land squarely on the other girl’s shoulder. It busted open and all but drenched her jacket.
“Neeeeeiii...” They looked heartbroken, before realizing just how bad this was. “Oh, oh no! I’m so sorry are you okay?!”
Looking back fondly, she wonders how the cute small dragon that was no bigger than her one arm she adopted few years back is now this huge dragon that’s massively larger than the tallest building in her town and with a gluttonous appetite that can’t seem to be full for more than a day. It’s a good thing that the two live on the outskirts nearby a forest with abundance of resources or else, she wouldn’t know how to keep the ice dragon not hungry to start chasing after humans. That said, isn’t it time for the dragon to start self-wean himself from overly attaching himself to her and get out of the ‘nest’ so to speak?
“You’re an adult dragon right now! An ice dragon, one of the largest ones of your kind! You know you can’t live down here forever!” Krul barks as she gives some ‘tough love’ lecture to the large dragon looming before her. Anyone would probably faint if they were in her position right now but Krul raised him since he was a hatchling and his pseudo-mother of sorts, thus the effect is loss on her. She loves the dragon, yes, adores him even! But she knows for a fact that Ferid can’t exactly live here near human civilization too long before there is going to be wanted poster for a loose dragon wandering nearby and as if she’s going to let her darling dragon become pin cushion for fearful humans!
Krul stomps her foot on the ground in frustration, befitting of her small appearance yet not of her age. “You go up in those mountains this instance and stay up there for a week! It’s time you learn some self-efficiency on your own! How do you expect to go back to your own kind if you can’t even act like a proper dragon?!”
Krul is starting to wonder if this was actually a good idea as she standing on a stage in their school’s auditorium, struggling to keep a cute smile as possible in front of the large crowd sprouting bidding numbers to win her with Shinoa egging them on. Shinoa gives her the signal to act more cuter, and less I-will-end-you look. Krul grinds her teeth, nevertheless, she smiles wider and twirls around in her modest maid outfit, then stopping to curtsy to spark the crowd interest even more. Not holding back, she gives an additional flirtatious wink to send the crowd in an uproar. Again, why in the world she’s doing this? Oh right. Because she wants some damn free food.
Like every other school culture festival, each class has to come up with a theme and sell it to the crowd that comes on that day. Naturally, most classes are competitive in the artistic flavor or money-making scheme part of it, it’s really mostly the latter though. Krul’s class decide it would be a brilliant idea to auction their chosen six students, three each for boys and girls. No surprise, she ends up being one of the “lucky” students. Krul and the other five students were reluctant to do it. But of course, they were then bribed— promised that one boy and one girl from the six, whoever earn the highest bid will each get two free-food passes on all the food stalls during the festival.
And here she is, with her chosen theme as a maid, showing off to a crowd that want to earn a day with her. Krul glances down still dissatisfied with her costume. Well, it was either this, or a small elementary school kid that’s looking for a “big brother” or “big sister” to take them out. It was obvious what she chose. She wasn’t sure if it was any better though. The current bid for her wasn’t that high compared to Mika’s. That one was outrageous and he was definitely a shoe-in for those free passes in the boys section. Krul is the last of her section, and she’s pretty sure she got the highest bid as far.
But Shinoa was determined to milk it up as much as she can. That, and torture Krul some more by signaling her to offer more fake and cute smiles with adorable poses. Krul gives another twirl to show off her frilly dress but also shooting a split-second look of promised death to the Hiragi girl. So far the current bidders that are furiously throwing out numbers for her is a student from the photography club and another no face she doesn’t recognize but hey, she doesn’t really care. As long as they don’t do anything weird and they can get food, she’s good.

I was worried about you, Laika! I hope your cold’s better now, at least! …In fact, I think I caught yours…
"... Well, I guess that mask didn't work after all. Yes, once I got better, it was time for our quarter annual training exercises, which can be very exhausting. Oh yeah." he pulled out the container that contained soup and handed it back to Lan. "Your mother is a good cook, the soup was really good."
