Top 5 Most Anticipated Games of 2019
With an avid amount of new exciting entries and some eagerly awaited sequels to boot - 2019 is shaping up a be a mammoth year for games. Here’s a personal list of my most anticipated releases that are all (hopefully) scheduled for release in the next twelve months.
Kingdom Hearts 3
January 29th 2019 // PS4 & Xbox One
Kingdom Hearts third instalment and stories conclusion has been thirteen long years in the making and now we’re less than a month away from it’s release. You’ll rejoin Sora, Donald, and, Goofy in their quest to finally defeat the darkness. There’s a lot of new worlds to explore, a fresh revamped combat system, and a staggering eighty hours of gameplay to enjoy. Safe to say this lands easily at the number one spot on my list.
Resident Evil 2 - Remake
January 25th 2019 // PS4 & Xbox One
Capcom dropped a bomb at this years E3 when they revealed a remake of one of Resi’s most beloved titles. Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy’s story is one of the most memorable survival horrors of all time. You’ll step into each of their shoes while traversing around the infected raccoon city, saving civilians and battling tyrant zombies along the way. It’s an emotional, terrifying ride that’s guaranteed to satisfy both old and new fans alike.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
June 21st 2019 // PS4, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch
Everyone’s favourite bandicoot is sliding back onto consoles next summer in the remastered Crash Team Racing. Originally released in 1999, CTR quickly became a cult classic for fans, and, it seemed like a major disappointment when the game wasn’t included on the PlayStation Classic. However, Naughty Dog quickly answered everyone’s prayers when Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was announced at this years Game Awards. Whether you’ll be driving solo or racking up endless hours with friends, this is sure to be the game of the summer.
Untitled Animal Crossing
Release date TBC // Nintendo Switch
If it wasn’t enough that Nintendo stole the show at this years E3 with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, they gave fans another incredibly surprise a few weeks later with the reveal of a brand new core Animal Crossing title for the Nintendo Switch. With no gameplay footage, release date or release window it’s all a bit mysterious at the moment but it’s certain that the series fifth instalment will be as delightful and fun as ever.
AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected
February 5th // PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch & PC
AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected is a game that hasn’t had a lot of attention since it’s initial reveal at PAX West back in August 2017. From what we’ve seen so far, AWAY is an indie first person adventure with gorgeous anime inspired graphics. You’ll be battling giant robots, aliens and monsters on your journey, while recruiting as many allies as you can. With a charming unique art style and an interesting premise it could just be a hidden gem of 2018.
