Karin Game update
So i decided to create a new map and rework all my events and switch’s into something far more neat without all the clutter.
I started working on Karin when I had only just started playing with RPG maker, so there’s a lot of rookie mistakes: I didn’t use self switch, which as you probably could guess means I have a lot of unnecessary variables and switches.
On top of that, I became stuck at a block at the end of the project because I have like, six endings I wanted to do, but no idea how they were supposed to get triggered without some HUGE event mix ups. it was poorly planned.
So, I used the same file, but created a new map set, and redesigned the layout- which made me a little sad because I’d grown attached to it, but I think having several small maps instead of one big map helps with a lot of the clutter, as well as gives an element of suspense, like opening doors in resident evil.
I didn’t delete the old map, as I still want to use all the writing and work I did as a baseline so i don’t have to work from the ground up- so it’s not goodbye forever.
Also now that I know what to do with my ending ideas (AKA not have them all attached to one event and have different ones happen sooner than others based on permanent choices, instead of basing it on the amount of characters lore you pick up) I can also add some events that are individual to that particular outcome that might actually give it more of the horror effect I want.
Now I actually have to get cracking on art and writing!
