What system do you use for coding and writing scripts?
i’m just using rpg maker vx ace, which isn’t as steep a learning curve as it’d be if i were to attempt to start from a blank slate with ruby or gamemaker, though it has lead to its own troubles where some of the engine’s capabilities are just never really spoken of?
thankfully moondrops is my crash-course practice run to see if i can make the bare bones of a game, from making my own assets to having a thing you can go through from start to end.
for future stuff, i’m planning on trying out rpg maker mv next, as it has not only a higher default resolution but is also more friendly for multiple platforms AND has a more organized plugin system, tho vx ace still has more readily available.
also apparently it IS possible to have sprites move fractions of tiles and to enable diagonal movement as a default thing in the engine, which is definitely something i wanna look into for my next project.
i have like 90% of all the assets i need done for my vidyagem, with the remainder dominantly being drawn shots rather than sprites and i’m so goddamn happy.
i got the thing to work!¡!¡!
i’ve been trying for two hours to get this side-quest thing’s event to function properly but it’s not activating like it should even though i’ve got all the progressive switches ticking off when they should and i feel so exhausted
Today’s grand progress: more battle adjustments, npc’s, and cutscenes.
now i’m driving MYSELF mad with endless spritemaking in rpgmaker.
i’m probably slowly driving my girlfriend mad with corny rpgmaker sound effects while i’m coding.
