UPDATE(Mar 31th): RPGAssist version 0.0.1 Beta is no more available (donwload version 0.0.2 Beta HERE).
RPGAssist is at this moment one of my experimental applications. The reason why I started to work on it is that I would like to spend some free time in the amazing worlds of good old RPGs such as Wizardry 7, Eye of the beholder I, Eye of the beholder II and Dundeon Master but I do not want to draw maps by hand to the paper. What about you?
Currently supported games and features:
Automapping (work is still in progress).
I am not sure if it works on a big-endian system such as PowerPC. I am currently testing it on MacBook Pro with Intel processor (little-endian) only.
Play game on your primary display with DOSBox in window mode (not fullscreen).
Detection of change of player's position or his direction is not yet working properly.
Detection of move left, move backward and move right is not working yet. Use move forward, turn left and turn right only.
Few tips for better experience
Close all other applications and disable all autoupdates if possible. It will minimize problems mentioned in previous section.
Change your resolution to 1024x768 (in case you have display 4:3) or to 1024x576 (in case you have display 16:9) to make DOSBox window bigger on your display. Do it before you execute RPGAssist. Current version is not able to handle change of resolution.
Download and try RPGAssist for yourself. If you find some problems please let me know which one should I handle at first. My email address is Pavel@[DOMAIN].com. Just replace [DOMAIN] in email address with 90Edges. Do not hesitate to send me some suggestions (e.g. which game should be the next one RPGAssist will support).
