- Mare argued with her family all the time because they didn’t approve of her pickpocketing.
- Bree was a heartbreaker among the village girls before he got conscripted.
- Mare’s dad sniffed the letter from Shade and deduces he’s away from the Choke; in the letter, Shade calls him “Dad the Bloodhound”. Mare’s dad has a fucking AWESOME sense of smell.
- Tramy looks like Gisa and is just as gentle.
- Summerton is surrounded entirely by a fucking wall of diamondglass.
- Farley looks like “little more than a girl”.
- Mare’s house is built on stilts (duh) and is only accessible by a worn wooden ladder.
- Cal walked Mare back to the village from the inn where they met—a distance of a couple miles at least.

- People get hanged in the town square for trying to run from conscription.
- The Silver that Gisa gets caught trying to pickpocket is a Cloner. I don’t think Cloners ever get mentioned again in the series, but he can multiply himself?? Victoria please tell us more
- Samson Merandus fucking shows up in the very first chapter and makes a strongarm stab himself in the stomach with his own sword.
