Today, as our Black History Month celebration continues, we honor another great American. If I wrote about all of my love and respect for this man, I would have enough room to write. Besides, I’d probably bore you to death. He’s dear friend, classmate, teammate, and brother. Ladies and gentlemen, I present introduce to some and present to others, Eric Garrett. (Go Rats) #RR4L CW4(R) Eric Garrett, who served 30 years, two months, and 26 days (yes!) in uniform. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan and fellow River Rat, Eric joined the Army Reserve as an E-1 as a 75F. Six months after completing AIT, he moved over to active duty and went to Ft. Huachuca to become a 97B (CI Agent). Upon graduation, he became one of only 100 black agents in the Army. Eric served as an enlisted soldier at Ft. Carson (4ID), Ft. Campbell (101st AA), Ft. Detrick (USAG), and Frankfurt, GE (V Corps). In 1995, then-SGT Garrett went to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA to study Spanish and upon graduation was stationed in Corozal, Panama. In 1999, then-SSG Garrett attended Warrant Officer school to become a CI Technician (351L). He went on to be stationed in several other locations, to include Ft. Hood, Kuwait, Norfolk, VA and Ft. Huachuca. Of all his assignments, him being stationed at Ft. Huachuca was the most significant. In 2011, CW4(R) Garrett became the first African American to run the Army Counterintelligence school, which has existed since 1953. Eric retired from the military in 2018, culminating his 30 years of military service. Eric has two combat deployments to Bosnia and Iraq, amongst other locations. He and his wife Shannon now live in Alexandria, Virginia. He is continuing to coach, teach, and mentor Soldiers as an Army Civilian, responsible for the Army’s CI-Cyber Program. Please join me in celebrating this great American!❤️🇺🇸🔥 #BlackHistoryMoments✊🏾 #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory🇺🇸 #RealPatriot🇺🇸 #RealLiveHeroes https://www.instagram.com/p/CL0PFyPhJCh/?igshid=37fdiud4kyvx
