also tagging @lucaniseyebrowlicker and @bleedthebeat since you asked about that one. I'm starting to get a bit self-conscious like it's not *that* exciting. sorry if the mention of blood got everyone's hopes up......

anyways!! that's a piece about ghilasara coming to emmrich for advice on blood magic and demon binding. inspired by the incident where spite almost kills illario, her knowing that lucanis would never forgive himself if something like that happened and being willing to do Whatever It Takes to prevent that. and my personal interpretation of what emmrich would consider "ethical blood magic" :)

“So you wish to bind him?” Emmrich talks to her almost like he would to an unruly student. It's sweet, in its own way. “Rook, you must understand that it can't serve as a permanent solution to their problem.” “I don't want to make that a permanent solution. They must find a way to coexist. I view this only as a last resort, a necessity if… something like that happens again.” Emmrich studies her silently. He isn't on her side yet, she can feel it, and expects further questions. But he is not brash and opinionated — the trove of life experience brings understanding of complexity. Some things will always remain unacceptable, but there's still hope to secure the help. She has nobody else.  “Lucanis would not appreciate it,” he says. “You must know that, as well. Regardless of your intentions.” “I’d rather he hated me than himself. He may never forgive me if I…” she stumbles, looking for words. “If I interfere with blood magic, that’s true. But do you believe he'd ever forgive himself for hurting someone because he lost control?” If something happens because of Spite, Lucanis will see his life as forfeit. What is being held in contempt against him giving up on living? She could endure tenfold hatred as long as his life went on. She is impartial to good bargains.

17. Under what circumstances would they want to be left alone by their partner?

For both of them it is definitely during their serious work hours. Like Ivy would prefer to be left alone when they’re studying or meditating because it keeps them focused and similarly Lucanis works better when he is not bothered either. Now the difference between the both of them is that Lucanis understands the importance of Ivy’s routine and will only come to them if its been a while to remind them to like eat or whatever… IVY on the otherhand does not care and will sit menacingly in the corner until Lucanis pays attention to them.

24. What would their partner do that would really turn them on, perhaps unintentionally?

I think for Ivy it would have to be like very specifically when Lucanis gets really passionate about a certain thing and starts talking about it.. Like if Ivy were to ask him the perfect way to kill someone and he gives them an entire monologue of where and how I think the gears in Ivy’s head would start turning instantly.

100% probably for Lucanis seeing Ivy spar or practice in any way would probably do it. Mostly because if Ivy’s hair were to become undone at the right moment they’d have to pause for to fix it and that alone would awaken something in Lucanis’s brain he’d have to go stab an object for a while.

Hi!!! 👋👋 That's somehow simultaneously the best and worst question in existence, because I can't ever give *one* answer (and I won't)

One of the best shows in my not at all biased opinion is The Good Place, like I saw it years ago and I still think about it a lot....... Life changing experience.. Other forever favs for me are Fringe and Mr Robot! AND!! The Magicians<3 except the last season. That didn't happen. To me.

For movies hm. My alllll time favs are Back to the Future and well. Shrek. And I'm saying that with my whole chest.

A last minute entry for @rsenak‘s cosplay contest!

Rider: Eden Dawnvalley

Horse: Moonfall aka Lunija

Character: Arya Svit-kona

Fandom: Inheritance Cycle! (please don’t tell me I’m the only fan in this community)

Theme Song: track titled “Swimming” from the Waterworld soundtrack (the book mentions multiple times that Arya’s mind is full of dark, haunting chords and this was the first I found that met that description

So this was a bit of a creative take on the character I’ll admit. Most of the time she’s said to be wearing dark leather but she’s also heavily associated with the color green which is why I went with a black and green color scheme. With both edits I wanted to recall that nostalgic fantasy feeling, with the first edit meant to capture the same look as, say, the cover or illustration in a book, and the second meant to bring to mind the same aesthetic as most fantasy-themed films. I also chose to use Lunija for this photoshoot because she most closely matched the small white elven horses appearing in the books.

So that’s my entry, thank you for the great contest idea!! :-)

Esmeralda's Character Bio

Esmeralda was pretty much born a horse and has had animals all her life. She grew up in the United States where she used to compete in Western pleasure shows at a young age. Competing eventually got in the way of school so it was given up so she could focus on school but she still rode. At the age of 12 years old she suffered a tragedy, the mare who had taught her everything had to be put down because she had a bad case of colic with a possible twist of the intestines. The sudden passing of her beloved mare tore Esmeralda apart so much that she gave up riding in order to avoid the pain of losing another horse. She fell into a deep depression and loss touch with what she felt was an essential part of her.

Fast forward 5 years and at the age of 17 Esmeralda’s mother thought it best to send her daughter to a riding school in Jorvik to try and bring the spark back into her daughter’s life. After so many years the pain was still there in Esmeralda’s heart but it wasn’t as sharp as it had been at first. Esmeralda decided to humor her mom and packed her bags and headed to the island of Jorvik. Once there Esmeralda rediscovered her love of horses with the help of a gentle, dapple gray Jorvik mare, Wolfdancer. Dancer helped Esmeralda heal her heart and grow as a rider.

At 18 Esmeralda moved to Jorvik permanently where she lives in New Hillcrest. Now 19 years old she trains horses for other people in order to pay the rent for her own herd of horses.

Personality wise Esmeralda can be shy and stand offish with people she doesn’t know that well. She has a resting bitch face that makes her seem scary and unapproachable especially when paired with her quiet nature. Once she gets to know someone she can talk a fair amount as well as protect them fiercely. If you come to her with a problem or a need to vent she will listen to you intently.

11. Which one of their senses would they fear losing the most?

I believe ivy’s most afraid of losing their sight completely. Their sight has always been pretty bad especially on the eye of their scar but I never actually fully explored it until recently and its become of those things they are definitely afraid of.

18. Which one of their insecurities would be the easiest to take advantage of?

sat on this for a bit because i couldn’t find the words but then i figured it out .. i think when it comes to their obsessive tendencies in how it at times brings out this force/drive to act in certain things. Like that alone along with their need to not give things up definitely would get taken advantage of by unsavory people. Just bring out the worst in them you know <3

Eden's Character Bio

For @rsenak's project and for future reference for myself if I ever start writing for this character! While Eden's family is one of the oldest lines that make up the ancestry of Jorvik, her parents raised her away from Jorvik in the United States. For generations, they owned a farm in the Harvest Counties known as Morning Dew Farm, which specialized in raising sheep and training cross country horses. However, certain "unfortunate" circumstances caused the farm to be shut down and the family to flee the island with their infant Eden. Now 19, Eden has returned to Jorvik to finish her education at Jorvik University and start her career as assistant trainer in Firgrove, where she boards three horses: Phoenix, a Morgan/Friesian cross who specializes in dressage; Genesis, an Appaloosa who is in training to be a pole-bender and barrel racer; Sunchaser, a Thoroughbred who is her current partner in most 3 day eventing competitions. Eden's biggest goal is to succeed as a competitive rider and trainer, and earn enough funds to take back the land belonging to her family's farm and rebuild it as Paradise Remnant Stables. Personality-wise, Eden is fairly quiet, at least until horses are brought up, in which case she becomes a walking talking encyclopedia of equine facts. She tries to be friendly for the most part, but the friendliness turns off once it's time to compete. At that point, she is 100% focused on winning, in order to bring her closer to her goal. She can seem snobbish because of this, and she has lost friendships in the past because of it. In her few moments of down time, Eden does enjoy going on relaxing trail rides, both by herself and with friends, and reading while sipping an iced coffee in the morning sunlight at the Firgrove cafe. Whelp, this ended up being longer than I expected, hope it all makes sense! (P.S. Eden's incarnation in My SSO Immortal is not her canon self, and should not be used in other stories except for explicit parodies where it is called for.)
