New disabled Ricky Potts actor has entered the ring!
This is Kate Allen (she/they/he), who both directs and plays Ricky Potts in Roller Coaster Theatrics' production of Ride the Cyclone, located in Bluffdale, Utah. According to her Tiktok, she is an ambulatory cane user with POTS and chronic nerve pain, in addition to being autistic, and she seeks to play Ricky with those same disabilities.
And, yes, Spacedolls is canon in this production (Ricky planned on confessing his love to Penny, before they ended up dying on the Cyclone)!
2026 is really the year for disabled Ricky Potts actors!
Signs of a Peak "Ride the Cyclone" Production
1. Using the old RTC script or incorporating dialogue from the 2016 boot. Or, in the case they use the new script, finding some way to add extra nuance towards Ricky's portrayal (as seen in Anoka-Ramsey).
2. All of the choir members having differently-styled uniforms (particularly Mishas or Rickys with hoodies, Oceans with blazers, and/or Constances with sweaters/cardigans), and/or them retaining their costume changes after their respective songs!
3. Having Ricky being played by a trans/nonbinary actor/actress (which A LOT of peak Rickys are). Or, really, any character being played by a trans/nonbinary actor/actress.
4. Having actors/actresses of color, but ESPECIALLY when they play Noel, Ricky, Constance, and/or Jane Doe.
5. Having plus-sized actors/actresses, but ESPECIALLY when they play Noel, Misha, and/or Constance.
6. Having a Jane Doe design that diverges from the typical "blonde porcelain doll" look.
7. Having zodiac signs/tarot card/cosmic motifs in either Karnak or the scenery.
8. Being double-/triple-casted or having an understudy cast.
9. Songs being played in a different key, whether higher or lower.
10. SOMEHOW NOT HAVING A SLIME TUTORIAL OR AVAILABLE AUDIO (although they REALLY shouldn't follow the last criterion)
Found a Jane Doe design with pants!
