Every Day Haiku #46
Dust in my fingers,
With every breath the wind blows,
Dust between my toes.
Although I've been counting down the Daisies since well... the beginning of winter. It suddenly hit me in the last week- Rocking the Daisies is almost here! I'm from Joburg (yes you can all feel sorry for me now - cue the aaaah.) and I've never actually had an official summer as yet in Cape Town, with festivals, rooftop and outdoor trance parties.
This will be my very first Daisies , so I need to make sure I do it properly with every single detail prepped and accounted for. ( well kinda people need to work.)
Join me as I countdown the days till Daisies and what steps to follow for newbees and what fab fashion you can pull off without waiting in lines.
Today's post is called: Prep!
Although ladies we like to "think" we going to spontaneously arrive at Daisies and look absolutely hot without an inch of effort made would be a complete and utter - LIE.
So 3 days till Daisies where do we start?
Firstly I'm dating a wonderful man, who's skill set involve project management. Courtesy of being all digital he introduced me to this wonderful tool called Wunderlist. Download it. Do it!
www.wunderlist.com
1. The to-do- List make sure it's accessible at all times even when you dozing off to bed.
2. Set up your tent at least 5 days before, because if you like us, there are pegs missing from the last camping trip.
3. Your to-do list, make sure it's attainable. Losing 5 kilos by Friday night ain't gonna happen ;)
4. Start a group/ chat on what time you will be leaving and who will be driving in a convoy with you. Road triiiiip.
5. Download the festival's app (we are now in an age where they are made), find out what the co-ordinates are, what NOT to bring (glass is a no- no at Daisies)
6. Tickets- make sure you booked the right days and not just a day pass. That would be a FAIL.
7. Your outfits. I've been pinteresting for months. Although it sounds pretentious , it's actually rather helpful to put outfits together because fumbling in a tent to put an outfit together is merely impossible.(I have space issues) There are no long mirrors in your tent girl.
8. Food/Snacks- If you like me I'm into eating and snacking through out the day. Pack some good healthy snacks when you slowly becoming that hungry beast, there is nothing worse than rushing off to the food stall to wait in a line. So meh!
9. Booze- I don't encourage binge drinking but let's be honest. We will be drinking through out the day. Stock up on a drink that you know will keep you going through out the festival, mixing is awful. Don't do it. Save us all!
10. Cash and Cards. Budget and budget, you don't need a wod of cash and by the time 1 am comes and you like - "drinks on me biatches". I think I could insert a mothercitymazing GIF here.
11. Water bottles they will be so helpful for when you need to rehydrate or fill with other lovely substances(booze people, where is your mind at) ;)
12. Wet wipes and dry shampoo are my secrets. No smudges and no need to wash your hair. Dry shampoo is miraculous. Clicks sell it.
13. Go with people you know who won't cause drama and people you know who will laugh/ look after you if you having too much of a good time and visa versa.
14. Playlist. Playlist. Playlist. Download music that will be played at the fest. Be spontaneous and look at artists you know nothing about.
15. Enjoy it. if you've forgotten something don't stress make a plan or let your DIY queen kick in.
