In 2012 Burundi has celebrated its indipendence's 50th anniversary. A person, a symbol of the fight against colonialism, is tightly related to this indipendence. We're talking of course about prince Louis Rwagasore, son of king Mwambutsa IV Bangiricenge. In his short political life, he was able to gather a great number of activists around a vision: free themselves from the colonialists. During free elections organised in 1961, his party won and he became Prime Minister. Nonetheless, some days after the creation of his governement, he was killed on 13th October 1961. The one who put his life at the service of the freedom cause could not see, on July 1st 1962, Burundi achieving its independence. This film is about the man behind the myth.

En 2012, le Burundi fête ses 50 ans d’Indépendance. Une personne, figure emblématique de la lutte anti coloniale, est étroitement liée à cette indépendance. On parle, bien sûr, du prince Louis Rwagasore, fils du roi Mwambutsa IV Bangiricenge. Dans sa courte vie politique, il parvient à rassembler une grande foule de militants  autour d’une vision : se libérer du joug colonial. Et, lors des élections libres organisées en 1961, son parti sort vainqueur et il devient premier ministre. Toutefois, quelques jours seulement après la formation de son Gouvernement, il est assassiné le 13 octobre 1961. Le 1er juillet 1962 le Burundi acquiert l’indépendance en l’absence de celui qui s’est donné corps et âme pour arriver à ce grand jour.  Ce film illustre l’homme derrière le mythe et justifie l’interprétation de l’apparente défaite en sa mort comme un espoir restant pour le Burundi d’aujourd’hui et de demain.
