Behold, my current Pet AU: The Road Trip To Hell!

Its kind of like if Yu Gi Oh and The Goofy Movie had a one-night-stand and it was gay

Premise:

After being gifted an old stone puzzle box, single father and travel blogger Jericho Price is immediately intrigued. In between driving, photographing his adventures, and raising his daughter, Helena, he spends time chipping away at the complicated box, and eventually, he manages to open it. This turns out to be a big mistake.

Upon opening the box, he unleashes the damaged, darkened soul known as “The Snatcher” - who promptly pushes itself into his body, and takes up residence, determined to use his body to go retrieve their true body in Catalonia. What the demon doesn’t realize is that Jericho has his daughter, and that will to fight is more than it was expecting - so they strike up a bargain.

“If you take me to my body, I will not hurt or endanger your daughter”

Reluctant but cornered, Jericho Agrees.

Helena, meanwhile, attempts to out what's going on with her father, and when she does find out - tries to figure out how to fix it.

Jericho Primo

Travel Blogger currently parading through Europe with his daughter. A kind, overly polite and patient man with a love of pork and law. Used to be a lawyer but left all that behind to travel with his child. Blogs about traveling, parenting, and law (#notlegaladvice). 

Helena Primo

The 9 year old daughter of Jericho - known as the “Hat Kid” on the internet due to her extensive hat collection she’d garnered through travel. Sassy, high energy, and very affectionate. Does online schooling, where she met her best friends. 

“The Snatcher” // Prince Nethaniel of Catalonia

A “demon” locked away in a box found in Romania that possesses Jericho so that he can travel back to Spain to reoccupy his own body, lying in stasis in a guarded tomb. Snarky, cruel and vindictive. Desperately needs a chill pill.

So in RTTH, does Jericho and Prince Neth have a time table of who in control of the body? Like, “Ok, you can have the body during the evenings, but when morning comes, I’m in control.” Or is it more of a constant war over who’s in charge?

So, at first its a bit of a push and pull. Their first day is a constant fight because Nethaniel wasn't expecting Jericho's will to be as strong as his (With Jericho vying to protect his daughter from a seemingly malevolent spirit, he had far more determination than the ghost expected).

After they forge the deal, Jericho and Neth tend to swap at seemingly random times (to Helena, at least), but their shifts tend to make sense when looked at in context. Jericho is often in control in the morning, and is always in control when travel is needed since, of course, Nethaniel can't drive. Nethaniel however, tends to take over during lulls in the day, or when he thinks he can add something to what's going on (Such as when they're in a museum and he feels the need to correct something). They end up finding a rhythm that gives them mostly equal footing while they share

He also tends to take over if things go south, as he's a better quick thinker and fighter than Jericho.

Every now and then, however, one can completely overtake the other at a moments notice if they push hard enough- such as an early interaction where Neth's carelessness leads Helena to nearly fall off of a bridge (don't worry, Jericho chews him out for it while the two of them are asleep and sharing dreams)
