Give us the etymology of the Gnog
I had to look up what etymology means, but yes I will give you the origin of the gnog.
A gnog is a species of animals in the 'Not' genus. Other species in this genus include the not-pig and the not-rabbit. Unlike these examples, the gnog is not confined to one organism. Instead, due to a genetic mutation, the original gnog (which is a shortened version of not-frog) was able to reproduce through mitosis. Luckily, gnogs are the most docile species in the 'Not' genus, so their duplication hasn't had global consequences. They frequently inhabit ponds, trees, and the space behind you that you can’t see, no matter how quickly you turn around.
FAQ:
How will I know when I see a gnog?
Gnogs are easy to identify in the wild. When you see one (and trust me, you will), your nervous system will immediately and aggressively inform you that what you're looking at is Not A Frog. Your brain won’t be able to tell you what it is, but you will know what it isn’t and that’s all you need.
Why are they called gnogs instead of nogs?
Gnogs are completely sapient and chose the name themselves.
Wait, gnogs can speak?
Yes, but they don’t.
Are you sure these things aren't dangerous?
Pretty sure!
Good luck out there, it’s worse than you think.
