"Would You Ship This?" || LAW X ROBIN?

//I do, actually. (To be fair, I haven’t thought of this ship much, until k-nico-robin’s Robin.)I’ve only interacted with her Robin, but I think in general they would get along well and be able to connect on a certain level/have those deep/philosophical conversations. Apart from their similar backstories, Robin’s more matured and her company is bearable/appreciated.

They could probably pass the day together in silence and it wouldn’t be awkward. I think. Although, if she does bring up too many questions of the past/personal questions, or if things start to get too intimate, I think he would then distance himself.

It would maybe have to start off with a more platonic ship, if it even goes beyond that. But I live for interactions between them :’)

&&.  today seemed to mark the commemoration of an unusual occurrence in the village: her son’s friend and brother had come to visit the island perhaps to see how they fared: their friends and acquaintances of a long time. she wasn’t expecting them to come by so randomly and spontaneously, but with them surprises and unpredictability were their fortes,  after all. 

&&. of course she would not discard the chance to greet them so readily once in their ratius of sight, a gentle smile crossing her face.

{ ♠ } – He walked past Luffy’s room, pausing before backtracking and peeking in. Much to his amusement, his little brother was flexing and posing in front of the mirror. He let out a snort before entering Luffy’s room with a large smirk on his face.

“Is that the best you got Lu?” He scoffed at the younger’s lanky frame. Without a second thought, Ace pulled off his shirt and flexed, showcasing his chiselled abdomen and muscular arms. “You gotta train harder.”

❜ eh ? didn’t let you play with them  ,  huh  ?  if you want me to teach ‘em a lesson …  ❜  he would’ve cracked his knuckles for emphasis if Luffy hadn’t been carried the way he was  .  patting his grandson’s head  ,  he gave a chuckle  .  ❜  good job  ,  Lu  .  you show ‘em  .  ❜

he knew it must’ve been hard for Luffy to live on the island  .  he’d seen how the other kids looked at Luffy  ,  but  …  no matter how hard it was  ,  the kid had to stay here  .  it was the safest place he knew of  —  few pirates would dare to come there  ,  knowing that Garp came back to it so often  .

his shoulders pushed backward  ,  stance proud  .  ❜  right  .  beat ‘em all up  .  it wasn’t even a challenge  .  ❜  he gave Luffy an affectionate ruffle of his hair  ,  thick fingers brushing against the smooth black strands  .  he always wanted Luffy to be proud of him  ,  even if Dragon would never be  .  it was a motivation of sorts  ,  a heavy one  .  if Luffy ever became disappointed in him  …  it’d break his heart  .

{ ✘ } – Seeing Luffy cry twisted her heart in a way she hadn’t expected. Though she arguably didn’t know him too well, she had spent enough time with him to know that he was a very bright and warm person. To seem him openly shed tears was... heavy.

She watched in silence as he paid respects to each grave. When he spoke to Ace, a part of her felt like she was intruding on a private moment, so she looked away, wet eyes focusing on the ocean and the horizon. When he spoke of Sabo, Akane reflected on her own relationship with the three brothers. While she had been the closest to Ace, she had gotten to know Sabo ever since she started aiding the Revolutionary Army. 

She was lucky to know them. All three of them.

While she didn’t understand fully, from what she gathered, Luffy was blaming himself for Ace’s death. If I was as strong as I am now. I was selfish and weak. She was sure that if Ace were here now, he’d get upset.

In truth, for the first few months after his death, Akane had blamed Luffy in a way. She was very angry and depressed, and those overwhelming feelings were displaced everywhere. Anywhere she could find something to put the blame on, because at the time she couldn’t understand the reason behind Ace’s death. A part of her knew, but it was hard for her to accept. She had lost her mother when she protected her, she lost Oyaji when he protected the crew, so losing Ace because he too decided to protect someone was an intensely frustrating thought. Her thoughts at the time were almost like, ‘Why couldn’t they just be more selfish?’ She realized soon after, that out of everyone she had been the most selfish.

He turned to look at her, and her face was pained. Regret anything?

“...I do. I regret a lot. A lot of what I’ve done and felt.” Her voice was airy, cracking a bit. “But I never regretted becoming a pirate and getting to meet everyone.” Her life had been dull before she met the Whitebeard Pirates. Aimless. They changed her. She allowed herself to become a more open and caring person because of them. It was all thanks to them that she was who she was now.
