August 24, 2020: De-molding some silicone rings This technically worked very well. But I am not happy. These rings are so thick! They don't look anything like the sample rings in the Amazon listing. (go figure, really.) If I had made these from resin I'd never be able to close my pudgy hands! If someone were to shake my hand, I'd cry! Luckily, they are silicone. Very rubbery, very soft silicone! Probably too soft to be good rings, but we'll see. It was just a test run. I am also looking into getting a couple of harder silicones that would probably be really good for this application. We'll see! When I opened the package, I was afraid the mold wasn't going to work for my purposes. And lo, it's true. I mean, they aren't bad. But not what I was looking for. I want to make those flat wedding ring style ones. I really like those, and want a slew of them for myself! But I'm cheap and don't want to pay big bucks for them! So I'll keep looking for molds! Worst case, I buy some cheap metal bands and make my own molds.
