#ruby's gift shelf

Todays gift seems different, but - somehow not so much. She comes by, with a selection of 4-5 different pictures, most of them are scribbles and colorings of both herself, yang and him and Tai all together doing various things, going the beach, walking the dog or even baking. But there is a specific one, of Qrow drawn by himself, with his cape covered in glitter and there are lots of stickers with the badly written word ' my favorite hero ' as the title. <3

"These are all really good, Rubes." Qrow grinned as he flipped through them. "Are they for the fridge or for-" His breath caught when he saw the last picture. My favorite hero. Qrow swallowed hard, and turned back to Ruby, blinking away the tears. "Or for me?"

When Ruby affirmed they were for Qrow, he put the ones of the family in a special notebook to keep them nice. The last one, however, was slipped into the front sleeve of his teaching binder, the one he used daily at Signal.

Gift time! She came right over, almost tripping from her own loose lace from her shoes - but held onto his leg for support. She's covered in sand - and dirt, and her clothes are a little wet too - "I found pretty things!" She raises up the small glass cup, offering him the many shells and little shiny pebbles. <3

Qrow picked both it and the sandy little girl up, knowing that he was probably going to get a stern talking to for letting her play in the water in her shoes and clothes. Kids were very determined to fall in water, and it wasnt like it was going to take long for Ruby's clothes to dry.

Chuckling, Qrow held the glass up to the light and looked through it. "Wow! You sure found a lot of these! Lets double check and make sure no one's home in these shells and then we'll go find Yang and your pops. I think he said something about lunch time soon."

Another Gift, Little Ruby striking again with her cutely generosity - however she seems quite tired this time in her offerings. "I made you a pretty scythe like Harbibble..." It's just a few sticks tied together with twine, and some random feathers and leaves to make the ' blade. '

Harbibble.

Qrow covered his mouth because he wanted to laugh and maybe hide how much that had made him tear up. Tai and the others told him all the time how much the girls had their eyes on him, but somehow, Qrow never quite believed he was worthy of their admiration. However, Ruby continued to prove him very wrong with these little gifts.

"I'll take good care of Harbibble." Qrow promised, taking the fragile thing in both hands.

Harbibble would get her own small plinth to rest on, encased in plexiglass on Oobleck's recommendation to keep the flowers and feathers from degrading over the years. It even got a little nameplate.

Gift time. She brings along a tiny little sachet of pretty shiny things she found. "Treasure!" <3

Qrow tilted his head from side to side when she gave him the small pouch full of clinking noises. "What's this?" he asked, pouring the contents out in his hand. There were sparkling marbles, and sea glass, and little tabs of shiny metals.

"Wow, Rubes," Qrow murmured, feeling touched. "This is all really pretty. Did you and Yang find all this together?"

Another gift! This time it's a pretty pebble she painted for him. And stuck googly eyes to. "Gift!"

Qrow gasped like it was the cutest thing he's ever seen, which, in fairness, it is. Ruby is paint-smeared, and he's pretty sure there's glue in her hair, but that only added to how enchanted he was by the whole thing.

He took the little treasure with a smile, and asked, "Do they have a name? Or do I need to come up with one?"
