🔥 gimme some opinions on Berserk
The first few chapters of Berserk did NOT sell me on it and I was tempted to drop it but pushed through because you and others said it was good. Glad I did. Obvious spoilers ahead. Casca had extreme potential as a character but her motivations ended up boiling down to boys (everything I do is for Griffith, oh wait I like Guts jk) and then she potato’d and I hate it. However much I joke about her potatoing, it sucks that she became a plot device and dead weight. It will take a LOT of really good narrative coming up to forgive like half the manga’s treatment of her.Anything directly mentioned regarding homosexuality in Berserk is REALLY disappointing. The two that come to mind are also both also pedo (guy that raped Guts as a kid and the guy Griffith sold himself to) and eugh. Not that most of the relationships and sexual experiences are rainbows and flowers in Berserk, but equating homosexuality to pedophilia leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If the Griffith and Guts romantic subtext were ever officially confirmed, I’d judge this point less harshly probably.On the flipside of homosexuality, I really actually want some kind of real validation on Griff/Guts to make edgy tryhard fanboys angry lmao. With the heavy handed correlations to Devilman, I still have just a smidge of hope it’ll happen at the end when it’s too late and everyone's dead. I think Isidro is a good character overall (I guess everyone hates him?) and I enjoy his silly interactions with Puck. They’re a couple of good dumbasses. This might be my only REAL unpopular opinion on this tbh.
