I'm in love with a fairytale...
When he walks back the way he came, he finds her in a clearing, a campfire burning on the wood in the centre and a small bundle of berries on a leaf cradled in her hand. He looks at her, utterly perple
xed and she gives him a slight smile.
“I thought we should rest.”
It’s the most she’s said to him since he discovered the truth about her wings, since she shut him down and recoiled away and he can’t help but smile back at her.
“It’s not too far from here. There’s no need for this,” he waves a hand at the small set-up she’s made.
She raises an eyebrow at him. “You’re tired.”
He flounders, unsure of what to say to that. He expected her to be urgent about her task, leaving the safety of the Hollow to do whatever it was she needed to do. This is not what he expected, though he can’t deny the wave of exhaustion that comes over him as he steps into the clearing.
“Thank you.”
