location: sotera, the common room of soteran quarters.

time: darkest hour before dawn, February 15th.

task 001 for ruinations plot drop 001.

WELL, this had been only mildly terrifying. The fact that Frigoria had been... noticed by some of the courtiers had been rather expected, given the Thorned King's gracious hinting of the third kingdom - pardon, empire, as the hidden one. But who in the name of Frigoria's old kings had the Thorned King been? Was it a jest dropped by the Council that had still remembered the Third, as per damnatio's loophole, that not even the ancestor that had cast it could erase.

or was it something more sinister?

Had someone been after her throne? What ludicrous thought! Astera, having three heirs to the throne - the current king & two younger siblings? What a... shadowing of the Frigorian empire with it's three ruling heads.

She simply would not have it. She must come to the bottom of it, unseen & unheard by the others - lest it alerts whoever it is feeding the kingdoms ( & her empire ) such dangerous thoughts.

task 001: the theories

more than just three. asteria, sotera... his mind tries to reach for something else right away. it frustrates him, because he just can't tell what it is; it vanishes right away. yixin is back and forth endlessly from the library and the court, alternating between his duties as the new king and his personal desires to get to the bottom of it. he finds a few papers, records with passing mentions of a land called frigoria: a third kingdom which had also participated in the endless sparring between asteria and sotera. the first time he saw the name he was sure he'd gone mad, staring at it. f r i g o r i a. as if the scrutiny applied to the letters would make it disappear - much like the rest of the kingdom. it explained some of the thorned king's words, but what else? was anything else explained? the thorned king itself, or the threats in the air? he had nothing for those, found nothing in his research or from eavesdropping. on that front, lin yixin knew nothing. nothing but that he believed it. every single word which that effigy had said was true, and he was shaken to his bones.
