Sam is a sight to behold as he marches down the steps of one of hell’s entrances: spattered in blood, an almost crackling electric aura surrounding him, enraged look and eyes blazing with a yellow tinge.
Lesser demons try to stop him, of course, but they only get a few paces in before they disintegrate into black mist that burns up in the air. What can they possibly do against the one who managed to trap Lilith and sap her of her powers, after all?
It hadn’t been an easy feat. Sam has given everything to be where he is: his brother’s trust, his friends, a part of his humanity. When he found out that Dean had sold his soul he vowed to do everything to save him from his fate. His brother had other ideas. The stubborn jerk fought him tooth and nail, until Sam didn’t have any other option than to leave and work on his own.
Ruby helped him get stronger and showed him the way. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough. When Dean’s time was up and his contract was due collecting, Sam wasn’t strong enough to defeat Lilith and had to watch his brother be ripped apart by hellhouds.
He soon found out that Ruby was lying to him and did not intend on making him strong enough to kill Lilith until he could finish the ritual to bring back Lucifer, something a demon with little loyalty to hell’s current rulers told him: Crowley.
He enjoyed squeezing the life our of Ruby slowly, but not before making her bleed.
Finding the right rituals was hard, making them work was harder, but Sam worked tirelessly and ruthlessly, knowing that every minute longer he took, was a minute longer Dean would be suffering in hell.
As the first three waves of demons perish without managing to lay a finger on Sam, some become cautious: running away or kneeling in subjugation. He grabs one of the kneeling ones by the throat.
“Where is Dean Winchester?” he growls. The demon looks at him with big eyes an shakes her head, then dies screaming.
Sam repeats the process until he finds someone that can show him the way.
