Holden had always had a knack for reading people. Whether they be strangers or those close to him -- He always knew when there was something up. So when he had commented on the maleâs singing, he was surprised that the other knew exactly what he meant. His voice wasnât bad of course, it was actually quite pleasant, but he could detect the hidden sorrow that he was far too familiar with.Â
Sitting beside the stranger at the bar, he lifted his glass, resting the rim against his lips and taking a long sip before he decided to speak again. âI never said you were a âsad manâ or whatever... Just how you sang. It sounded sad. Beautiful but sad.â He gave a firm nod of his head, still facing forward but his eyes gazing sideways at the male. Holden hardly was one to give out random compliments. In fact, it was very rare for him since most of the time he only thought of himself. But for some odd reason it had slipped out -- The one time Holden couldnât lie.Â
âSo you are sad? Well -- That makes two of us.â He released a breathy chuckle before continuing on. âWhatâs up with you then, huh? Eat something bad this morning? Someone break your heart? Donât worry you can tell me, I wonât judge.â
