Ruumi Rum Cat
There was an uneasy feeling settling in as the night replaced the sunlit sky. Jack laid somewhat comfortably on the hammock he had below deck for those nights, much like this one, where he didn't care to make the trip to the cellar for more rum.
Ruumi the rum cat sat guard at his supply, hissing and clawing the air whenever Jack came anywhere close to his stash. She had a keen sense about her, knowing when her drunken shipmate had drank more than he could bare. But he'd never failed to push his luck with Ruumi Rum Cat; Guardian of the Rum.
Jack swung in the hammock, peering over at his rugged furry friend for a long while. Sure enough, Ruumi stared back at him with her reflective eyes. "And what're you looking at?" Jack scoffed. Ruumi flopped down on the wooden floor, never once taking her eyes off of Jack.
There was something peculiar about the feline that had kept Jack intrigued for all the years he'd known her. Part of the reason he kept her around was simply because she refused to leave his side. Whenever he'd left her astray while he made port, she had always found a way back aboard the Black Pearl. But what many hadn't known was for the past three hundred years, Ruumi had been his most loyal companion yet. That was their little secret.
