Back from the dead with a new Rumefuu! This was made for an AU co-created by VermillionShackle on AO3 and myself. The scene in the picture is actually a scene from his fanfic for this AU:

This is a Milgram Idol AU where all the prisoners are actually idols and the concept of their group, Milgram, is their canon story of being trapped in a weird prison after committing "murders." There is one incredibly important twist, though: The Milgram idol group is fully run by Denny's, which in this AU is a high end restaurant chain. Fuuta is Prisoner No. 003 of the Milgram group and Rumerie is a hot-shot model, with a Gentle Monster brand deal. This is the Milgram Denny's AU, crack treated (as you can hopefully tell by the image) very seriously.

One of the two ads in the back is actually a full piece and it is under the cut (Warning: Eyestrain, tasteful clothes-less-ness).

The amount I had to study Gentle Monster just for a joke ad that takes up a tiny amount of space...

This is gonna sound kinda weird but I'm gonna put a kinda disclaimer here: I think the best part of Rumerie is how little we know about him and how many ways people can take his character. He's really what each person makes of him. I like discussing my interpretation but I don't want it to heavily influence others' interpretations because that's how fanon happens. I'm not big on when fanon kinda gets set in stone, you know?

Anyway! For me at least, Fuuta's got a tsundere thing going on but he's also very bad at being subtle (gets caught staring or says things out loud that he meant to say in "voiceover"). Rumerie's more of a naturally charming guy and a bit of a flirt. So when he notices how Fuuta feels about him, I think he'd play along for a bit and flirt and tease Fuuta until "haha wait what are these feelings im suddenly having?"

I do think Rumerie is someone who has a bit of a scary side to him, though. He's the kind of guy who doesn't get irritated easily, but when he holds things in long enough, he'll just explode. Because of that, he's difficult to read (especially if he's wearing his shades!). This is the opposite of Fuuta who's very vocal about what annoys him and is irritated half the time lmao.

That said, I'm actually partial to Rumefuu being a pretty positive relationship (at least at the beginning). My idea is that they met online through a game (League of Legends, lmao) and then they met in person later on. I like to think that Fuuta had a crush on him before they even met irl, and Rumerie felt it back after they met. Fuuta deals with so much shit in his life, I think the last thing he needed narratively was a relationship that was disingenuous from the get-go. I'm thinking a good emotional connection, good sex (for Fuuta? no way!?), and a they've already got the shared interests covered. They'll definitely have some bumps along the road, but in general I like to think they have a relationship neither of them want to lose.

Because it'll hurt a lot more when they lose it.

My idea is that Fuuta still ended up joining the Dark Triad because of his sense of justice. Rumerie didn't want this, because he knows what DT's really about, but he lets Fuuta join, and now they're both stuck. Fuuta starts getting really into it and DT keeps him as a potential scapegoat (he's not really part of their inner circle). Most of the whole "Pressure! Pressure!" comes from the other DT members and not Rumerie. Not that Rumerie can do anything about it. (If DT caught a whiff of him turning on them, they'd make him a target.) Then when the whole Killcheroy thing happened, they all — Rumerie unwillingly included — dropped Fuuta.

The one thing that might be weird about my characterization of them is about their names. I know a bunch of people have given Rumerie a name (Victimgram comes to mind here), but I'm taking the fact that we don't know his name and running with it. It all comes back to Rumerie being in DT and that leading to him being almost paranoid about internet safety. He doesn't tell anyone his name, because that's private info that can be used against him. His friends call him Rume and he calls Fuuta Pazuzu. So yeah, they might call each other by their twitter handles during sex, but wte, it's for the Plot.
