So I was scrolling through TikTok just now and I saw on a mashup of the parts of ‘Prom Queen’ by mollykate on my fyp, the song was PEAK back in the early days of the Gacha community, and when I decided to search it up on Tiktok to see what I could find, I FOUND AN EDIT OF RUMI TO PROM QUEEN AND IT TURNED OUR THAT IT’S SO ACCURATE

Here’s my very detailed breakdown of the song ‘Prom Queen’ by mollykate and how it fits Rumi so well { or just a specific part of the song }, if not ALMOST perfectly IN MY OPINION { Inspired by @kaay1aa’s edit on Tiktok }

EXHIBIT A: ‘And she lives her dreams, through the magazines’

Rumi practically lives the Kpop dream { at least it looked like she is } + she was trained for the idol life since childhood

• She’s the leader of the biggest K-pop group in the world, a total sensation in their universe, and in the movie they JUST wrapped up their world tour, like DUDE if that isn’t something that SCREAMS success idk what does

• Her bandmates are her best friends, they’re soulmates and you can’t tell me otherwise { View it however you want, platonic, romantic, family dynamics IDC, I just love them all }

• She has an amazing manager who is shown to be good at his job, and cares about the girls. I’ve seen many people say that a manager who shows the same level of care that Bobby does { beyond idol work and their image and the cash flow that comes in based on their success } is very hard to come by { I think we can agree that Bobby is wonderful and nothing abt him needs to be changed, he’s perfect just the way he is }

EXHIBIT B: ‘And her daddy’s gone, and she needs someone’

• Her mother is 6 feet under, and we still have no idea what happened to her dad sooo yeah

• Girl is severely emotionally constipated since she got so used to hiding her faults and fears, including the patterns. She’s so focused on sealing the Honmoon that it gets in the way of her personal relationships & affects her voice. It’s a crucial part of their mission as hunters but also one of things she prides herself in. Losing touch with a talent in any way can be super hard on someone when they cherished it or put a lot of effort into it

• I’m one of those ppl who thinks that Celine tried her best to raise Rumi, but that doesn’t mean she was perfect and her actions can be justified, VERY far from it. Telling Rumi to hide her patterns could have been a way she tried to protect her but in the end it + ‘Our faults and fears must never be seen’ led to the emotional constipation I mentioned. And even though she wanted to tell Mira and Zoey, the possibility of them not accepting was not off the table.

• And then the Saja Boys come into the picture, more specifically Jinu. After he finds out that she has patterns, he attempts to emphasize with her, and it leads to a relationship between them where they can actually talk to each other about their inner struggles, more so Rumi to Jinu }

EXHIBIT C: ‘And she’s got the looks, and the boys on hooks’

• Rumi is beautiful and SHE KNOWS IT { Ms ‘I’m everyone’s type’ } I mean c’mon LOOK AT HER

• Jinu, again.

EXHIBIT D: ‘But she’d trade it all for a heart that’s whole’

• Again, her mission to seal the Honmoon was to get rid of demons for good, to protect humanity, and to be rid of her patterns, at least that’s what she believed would happen because Celine also thought that’s what would happen, making her a FULL HUMAN / HUNTER

Some people like to say that Rumi doesn’t have a soul, some people say she has a soul but it’s not as strong or as complete as a human soul would { Translate: I saw someone comment something like this on the video that changing the word ‘HEART’ to ‘SOUL’ might make it more accurate, but I think BOTH work bc to Rumi, until she reaches her goal, she can’t be fully honest or show vulnerability, except with Jinu, who understands what she was going through, not to the T but you get what I mean, they both have a weight of shame on their shoulders and can talk to each other about it }
